I'm about to bring my "new" '74 Carrera Targa into Maryland (Annapolis area). The car is currently registered in California, so when I bring it home in a few weeks, I'll need to have it inspected. Before I bring it home, though, I was going to convert the headlights to H4s. Can I expect any problems trying to get the car to pass the safety inspection with the H4s? Will the inspector notice the lack of DOT stamps on the lights, or is he just looking for operability?
Thanks for any advice.

Good question.
I'll store them for you!

I got the H4's on my SC, and when I had it inspected, the inspector didn't say anything about them. And I took my 911 to a place that nitpicked and failed it for little stuff, like rear seat belts, and cat. converter. Just make sure the H4's work.

Pari, what's your progress?
Not sure of the difference between inspections from Maryland versus Virginia. I did not have a problem with my H4's here. They were only looking for operability. They did hit me up for not having my parking brake light operational.

Hi Bill, sorry for the late reply, I still need to get the SC through MD inspection. I think I got the bugs worked out with the electrical problems in my SC. Next steps, removal of rear seats, roll cage installation, lowering the ride height, and an alignment. Hopefully I will be able to get all of these things done by next week. I am probably going to take the rear seats out tomorrow or wednesday. I found an Amaco in Potomac that does MD inspections, but won't really be too picky while inspecting it. I am planning on taking it by there and let them inspect it. I hope this will be the last inspection I have to go through. Bill, where did you get your SC inspected? Let me know if you want to practice the route that me and Chris are mapping out for the MD fun run.

I'd love to see the roll bar install and some of the other work.
I'll check back later this week.
