The link below will open a 4 minute collection of clips from road race and rallye film my dad took in 1952. The clips are pulled from a 50 minute film I will show during dinner at the off road drive and dine.
Its best viewed at full screen from some distance or on a small screen size up close.

There is also a full skirted (enclosed wheel wells) early Porsche (its a red blurr) at 1:09. You will find Porsches all through the larger video in both the races, pre race parades and the road rally scenes. Records show they did pretty well at Elkhart and Watkins Glenn.

That is amazing footage! Thanks for sharing. Capture a few stills of your dad and his car. Amazing to see these cars, especially the SL. Very cool. Made my week already.

Seconded! Great shots. I was amused by the huge Blatz sign around 1:00 mark. Just a billboard or was that the brewery itself?

You should see what in some of the pre-race parades.....
You question made me dive a little deeper into the records and study the film a little more closely. I scanned the longer 50 minute film closely for car 68 and found it but the car was not the MG TD MkII that he drove. Checked his race credentials, the date of entry list and the film a little more closely. The film is 1952. He raced Offutt in 1954. I have no pictures of of him or his car. I do have a lot of footage of his XK-120 from the Continental Divide rallye in the longer version along with some nice shots of the speedometer in places its not suppose to be on the roads they ran..... will dig around on the net and see if I can find some 1952 footage to pull a still from. If nothing else I would love one.

That was just a billboard, the brewery was in Milwaukee. If you drink a Pabst.
Made the appropriate corrections to the video short and will replace it tonight.

Great film, brave drivers and corner workers - as well as lovely cars. This entire film is from 1952? - Isn't that a T Bird at 3:20, if so, if I recall correctly, they didn't come out until around 1955 or so, I think.

Give that man a cigar.....
Just checked the Rally Placard (I still have it) and it says second annual, the first was in 1953 so this was from the 1954 Rally, held October 10 (imagine 11,000 feet in an open car in Colorado in October). October of 54 would mean that the 55 models were out. So not only was that a T-Bird but it was one of the very first built and sold.
Keep the comments coming. From your replies I now have a timeline for when my Dad started racing, when he bought the Jaguar and exactly which events these are.

EDIT: I am removing and replacing the video with one that has corrected dates. 10/21 @ 1922 which should take 20 minutes.

I started highlighting with titles clips of Briggs Cunningham, Phil Hill, John Nuessman etc at Elkhart Lake in the 50 minute version and moved on to Offutt. Car numbers and types didnt match frequently. Turns out I have a lot of footage from the innaugural 12hrs of Sebring, 1952. I dont have a full entries list from that event and I cant seem to find one on the web, just partials. If any of you have or know whete to get documentatiin for that race let me know, please.

I just completed the full 60 minute video.
Races shown are:
Elkhart Lake 52 (final race on roads)
Sebring 52 (inaugural race)
Watkins Glen 52 (the final race on roads)
Giants Despair Hill Climb
Unidentified Airbase races (help appreciated)
Continental Divide Rally
Elkhart Lake Rally (final checkpoint)
All Porsches identified with drivers and finishing places for every race where info was available (most).
As much early racing history as was relevant to the drivers, cars and tracks show was put into this.
Grab a couple cool daddys, watch full screen from a couple feet back and enjoy.
