I am interested in upgrading my e34 535is to an e34 M5, however, I have never driven an e34 M5. Is there anyone in the DMV area willing to let their's be test driven or know of one for sale?

I just want to compare the driving to my 535is and see if the M5 is something I would be happy to own or if it isn't worth it.

Any info would be helpful, Thanks

Great cars, pretty quick for a sedan, and a lot of torque from the double overhead cam six. A notable difference in grunt from the 535i It handles a lot like what you currently have but a bit more predictable.

Maintenance cost increases for the engine, tune-up parts, water pump, exhaust manifold are a bit higher.. and if you need a valve job it can get pretty expensive. Crank pulley and exhaust cam gear-drive need to be updated unless already done. If you don't work on it yourself, you need to find someone who knows the cars, not just some schmoe that says "yeah, I work on BMWs."

Lots of the electricals, suspension bits, etc.. are the same as the E34 535.

There are some nice one's out there and of course a whole lot of dogs.

Happy hunting!
