Anyone know what replacing both batteries in a '06 MB E350 SHOULD cost?

Took my wife's Mercedes in for some scheduled and other service to a well regarded indie. As usual got the call that there were a few other things that they found that needed fixing. No problem, I expected a few things else to be wrong including the batteries (there are 2 in an MB).

I was in the middle of something else and distracted when they called. I know they quoted me a price for the extras but needed it done so I said ok.

In true Monday morning quarterbacking fashion I looked at the detailed invoice last night and have to ask what could be so darned expensive about changing out a MB battery?

Am I missing something or am I just another one of those MB owners that shouldn't own one if you have to ask (or care) how much.

Check FLAPS price for same battery, then X 2, add one hours or so labor = :shock:

If FLAPS doesn't have equivalent battery call MD parts and ask. What was price... $600??

I replaced the battery in my 08 GL and there was only one. It was massive (about 60 lbs). I got it at my FLAPS. Installation was a b!tch. Battery was located under the passenger side front seat and required a lot of noodling and wrestling. I doubt an E class would put a battery there so I back up David's estimate.
