The shop I went to mangled my rear wheel bearing installation. They guy is now avoiding me because he is a snake.

Long of the short I was replacing my parking brake shoes and saw
1-my rear hub was loose [tightened]
2-my rear axle nuts were old [I supplied new parts with my bearings]
3-After replacing the brake shoes [and tightening the rear hub nut to the specified torque] I now have an obnoxious scraping sound from the Right rear

Check the brakes, checked the dust shield. I'm thinking its the brand new bearing.

Any recommendations of a mechanic or shop near hyattsville that will do a proper job ?

need it pretty quick, willing to help it happen faster however I have no place to work [local Police Presence has decided that taking a wheel off the car =s major repair and threatened me with a ticket].

Thanks in advance!

Hugh

Taylor Chapman at Chapman AutoWerkes near Dulles Airport. Knows 928s. Nice guy, does good work.

BeArings tend to grind. Shoes springs and tin tends to scrape. Does the stub axel wiggle with the nut properly torqued up?

What VG said.

That said, a little west of you: Matt De Maria (a Dorki regular and TRUE expert with older Porsches), in oldtown Gaithersburg. Stuttgart Performance Engineering.

A little north of you, but don't know if they like the old 928s: At Speed and TPC.

Thanks for all the speedy replies :!

Yes there was a slight wiggle in the stub.

I have an E36 now [need to change that sig].

I am going to 'Green Motorsports' in Springfield VA today after work ... they said they were familiar with E36s so ..

Green did a good job. All in all my issues were >

-Bad rear [right] hub
-bad rear [right] bearing
-damaged [right] axle .

Its possible the previous tech who did the rear bearings over-tightened
the rear axle nut.

The tech had to also replace one of my axle bolts

All in all im happy I have my car back and I would not want to have tried to do this with my work schedule.
