Part of my spring tune-up for the Ratt Fleet is to replace the wiper blades on all the cars. Usually buy Bosch for Porsches, F150 and Focus, but this year decided to try something else. I’ve used Rain-X products for years on race car windshields and motorcycle helmet face shields so figured I’d give their wiper blades a try. BIG MISTAKE!! Even on sale they were more $$$ than Bosch and frankly they suck!!! I’ve already replaced the 996s and now need to replace the Focus’s too! Focus’s blade separated from the arm this morning after only a month or so of use.

So other than a caution about buying this crap what are the rest of you using?

BTW this is a good example of why I tend to stick with something I find that works regardless of the “newest, best” product the ad drones are hyping.

Edit: after reading a couple of replies I thought I'd add how poorly they performed even when new!

Had the exact same experience last year. They were so bad I replaced them before they wore out. I'll stick with Bosch if they are available.

x3 with the RainX. I was very disappointed at how quickly they seemed to wear out.

Same issue here. The RainX split on my Suby less than two months after installation. Going back to Bosch..

I've had PIAA silicone blades on our cars for the last several years. They last forever. They have a little Rain-X like beading property as well. Make sure you pretreat your windshield per instructions.

Rainx = rubbish. Bosch Icon blades on everything. Done and done.

Rain-x suck. Had a set on my wife's car for two days. Took them back and exchanged for Bosch. FLAPS guy didn't give me a hard time for returning used wipers. Said I wasn't the first.

Want the thread title changed so when people see it in the future it will be more informative?

I've had good luck with the Goodyear wiper blades from Costco. Just throwing that out as another option.

The Trico Teflon Coated blades are good until the coating wears off. Used those before the Bosche Icons came out.

RainX wipers suck the water off the windshield? Amazing. I'm heading out to my flaps right now to get a set for tomorrow's forcasted rain.

Great, another ambiguous review thread where no one can agree if Rain-X Wipers Suck...

The internet is a waste...

Same here, unfortunately (re: RainX wipers).

I actually bought cheapy Duralast wipers for my truck two years ago and they've performed admirably so far.

Other than that, I just use Bosch. Price typically ain't that much more than the Duralast ones.

another one here. Put a set on the Vulva a couple months ago. Loved them at first. Mine didn't split, but after about a month they started smearing and leaving streaks. Seems they wore out prematurely.....or as it seems completely normally for Lame-X's so I'z going back to Bosch. Tri-blows are on my shit list too. They seem to wear out and split within a couple months as well, especially on the fo-fo and van that don't get used much. ( van sits in the sun all day fo-fo stays inside )

What I do is find the cheapest wipers in the right length at walmart, remove the actual blade, and put the new blade into the old arm.
So far they seem to work better than anything else I have tried.

I hate to admit it but I only buy OEM... they seem to last the longest.

When I first bought the Targa, it needed replacement blades. I bought the "lifetime" silicone from Automotion, and they lasted until I sold the car (and then were still fine). Granted, it wasn't a daily driver, but that was still about 12 years!
