Well it’s been nearly a year in the works but it looks like our garage is about complete! Actually, the structure has been done for about 2 weeks but there hasn’t been any way to get to it. But if :?: :?: :?: all goes well the last of the new driveway & curb cut will be done today!
A little history: Linda & I started the process last April by looking for building plans on the internet a making a wish list. We knew we wanted a large 2+ car garage, w/plenty of AMPS, 2 post lift, ample overhead room (minimum of 9 ft. walls), hot & cold water, plenty of natural light & a very tough low maintenance interior. Overall we’ve exceeded all of these, except size. The county board of zoning, bless their politically appointed hearts, turned down our application for a variance that would have placed the garage on the inside corner of our lot. A position all our neighbors favored in writing. This only took them 9 months!
To balance that bit of insanity, the salaried county employees gave us a VERY favorable ruling on side yard clearance. Allowing a 24’ x 24’ garage w/rear access to placed right in the middle of the back yard!
So now what? I still need to clean & paint the floor but that should be done by the weekend. Then there’s Easter, Hershey/ DE Tec, & then Mid Ohio. That makes it the 2nd weekend in May? What say you to an Open Garage party? Rich Lee has already volunteered to safety check the lift, maybe Marc will share some of his recipes? How about it?

Woo bloody hooooo - I'm in!
Congratulations David & Linda, this sounds like a most excellent new facility. If my pulley oil seal leak is not fixed by then, maybe I can book some time to take a look at it.
BTW, does anyone have a P-216 front [pulley] seal installing tool??

Congratulations Dave & Linda!
Which day is the event, Sat (5/10) or Sun (5/11)? Right now I'm open for either and would love to swing by.

Dave:
Congrats on what I know was a very frustrating experience.
Sunday the 11th works for me, but in the words of Steven Segal . . . "I'm just a lowly cook"
Can't wait to give the place a look see.

Marc - that cook did pretty good for himself because if it is the movie I'm thinking off then he wound up with the blonde that jumped out of the cake, right?

I'm probably doing the PCA winery tour on the 10th, so the 11th is better for me.

David and Linda,
Thats great news, I already have garage envy. The 2 post lift sure beats the latest addition to my garage....a picnic table :?
Congratulations!! Can't wait to see it....

Sounds like May 11 is better for everyone so that’s it. I’ll post directions when we get a little closer, but essentially we are just down the from the Mt. Vernon Hospital, in eastern Fairfax County. I appreciate the offers to help but except for painting the floor all is done. I’m not going to build anything in until I have a chance to try out the space. I haven’t heard anything from Richard, so I don’t know if we will be doing a PPI on a new 993 or postmortem on the Carrera. Of course, with all the new track junkies there’s always going to be someone who needs their brakes bled or replaced! And if nothing else Linda got me one of those trick brake fluid testers that Kurt had at the last Tech so at least we can check everyone’s boiling point!

Ok, twist my arm. My sunroof doesn't work. We don't need a lift to fix that, but I could use some adult supervision. I'm flushing brakes and clutch at the Intersport tech session and other than that, there's really nothing left to do on my car.

Congrats on your new addition Dave and Linda! I will see if we can make it by.
Getting ready to break ground on my 24 X 30 garage with a two post in the back yard so I will hold the (hopefully) summer lift party. Completion is expected to be in less than 2 months. I can’t wait! Untill then the shop is closed...
On a related note. I am looking to swap my 18.5 enclosed trailer for an aluminum open trailer. Any one want to move up to an enclosed?

uh oh, slight scheduling dilema might cause trouble for some of us ... just tonight I realized that 5/11 is Mother's Day and we already had plans for that day. Unless something changes I unfortunately won't be able to make it.
I'm now trying to explain to my wife how I forgot about that day

Well the continuous lousy weather is forcing me to delay our open garage day planned for tomorrow. The garage is done, as is the drive & the lift is installed. However, the re-grading of what is left of our yard has left the drive & parking pad deep in mud w/no chance of clearing it off by tomorrow even with the steady rain. This years bumper crop of seeds from the overhanging trees mixed w/the mud makes for a nice soupy mix too. We will reschedule later, though our track schedule this year is blessedly full. Anyone needing a lift will always be welcome.

Sorry to hear about the mud. My driveway is like that 50% of the time.

Dave--
I realized too late you scheduled the opening for Mother's Day.
The mud is a blessing in disguise--I could have made it today, but the locks would have been changed when I got home.
