when I had a Boxster wave to me and I had to turn my neck to visually follow him just to make sure I saw what I thought I saw.
Guess there is always a first for everything, right?

Was it that gunmetal grey color? One of those went by my house on Saturday when I was out on the front porch, and he waved when he saw the Targa in the Driveway. I dropped my cigar.

I got lots of waves this weekend, too. Must've been the weather - everyone was in a good mood. 8)
I find that the Boxters are the least wavable of the bunch. I'm not sure its snobbery, just that they don't seem to even recognize other Porsches as the same family of cars... Targa? What's that?? Don''t seem to get the chin in the air thing, just the look from them like, "What's that idiot in that Volkswagon waving at me for?"

Jeez Dan, I hope the porch didn't ignite when that thing hit the ground!
Keith - I think I can count on one hand and have four fingers left over the number of waves I've received from Boxster owners.

My guess is that it was the Boxster owner's mechanic taking the car out for a test drive. IME, they don't wave because between the steering wheel and the cell phone, there are no free hands.

Keith--
The Targa is the design Porsche came up with to combine the best features of the cabriolet and the coupe, thus making it the best model of Porsche. Its unique design makes it readily distinguishable from ordinary, run-of-the-mill Porsches.

I'm from the motorcycle crowd who waves to my other 2 wheeled brethren when we see each other, possibly ride in a pack if routes intersect and part ways with a friendly wave. I'm used to this feeling of camaraderie when I'm out on the roads and see others who share the same love of riding/driving something distinct and different.
Within my first month of 911 ownership I was driving up I-95 and saw what looked to be a newer 911 tailing me. I'm thinking how cool. He gets over a lane and moves up next to me and I notice its a Boxer. I look over in hopes of a wave or even an acknowledgement and he just continues to cruise right on by looking forward and ignores the father figure of all Porsches in the lane next to him. No love, jaded for life.
I agree, they are just a different breed of p-car owners, kinda like the Cruiser vs. Sport Bike love/hate relationship.
He may have also been thinking 'punk kid'.
I've also had a-hole 993 and 964 drivers blow by me just to put my little SC in its place
Can't win them all.

Dan,
So thaaaat's what a Targa is?? oh... thanks...
But then we can always count on you Targa guys waving the Targa flag right? In my opinion 'ordinary run-of-the-mill Porsches were made to have sunroofs, but nothing else....doohhhh...
all in good fun...

Dan I agree fully.
Just like Brown. Readily distinguishable from ordinary, run-of-the-mill colors, like red

hahahahah..
I never wave to boxsters. They all are pretty much clueless. I'm done feeling like a jackass trying to wave to them. :(

Brother you sais a mouthfull! I'm temped to buy one just to piss them off by waiving at the aircooled crowd.
So Boxters are concidered a sub-Porsche, don't tell my wife. She re-mentioned the other evening she will get one. She needs to drive Dads Targa so she will get the Boxter idea out of her head. I like them I just don't want one.

I usually just give them the finger and tell them to get a "real" Porsche... oh wait, I'm not a 911 snob. ;)
