HELP! :D

Ok not as dramatic. I have a E36 vert and It has the factory brace, however one bolt rotates (I've been told the insert may be moving) and it has only 4 bolts not the 6 I'm expecting. Soo. being a bit Obsessive I compulsively purchased the hardware kit from Bimmerworld.

My question / request is for anyone who has firsthand experience to either chime in or PM me about the 'gotcha's about doing this. I have seen several 'how -2s ' about correctly installing the thread-sert however Im sure to be as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs with this.

The reason I am trying this is to 'stiffen' the front end of the car (it has a bit of a quake/shake over bumps and Im sure its partially because its a vert).

So if anyone has advice to offer (Or can refer me to someone who can do this without costing arms and both legs..) please do so .

Forever grateful ,

TurboH

Is your question about thread-sert installation or not staying seated? I've used them twice, when installing the x-brace on my e36 coupe and again installing a strut brace on my wife's Jetta. Over time one thread-sert in each case loosened up. For both applications, I removed the thread-sert and replaced with lock nut and bolt. I would blame both my improper installation (not enough torque?) as well as these are a marginal solution in the first place. Hope that helps.

Ya Im having the issue with one slowly turning, and I have a new hardware set and had intended to remove the defective one and install the missing 2 (I only have a total of 4 bolts although there is room vor 6). My plan is to upgrade the mounting to use 4 bolts on the front half of the brace and 2 on the rear to eliminate any 'wiggle'.
