Chris hooked up with some guy on Bimmerforums who offered to set some option codes on the E46. Minor stuff like turning on the option to auto close all windows and the sunroof when locking with the remote.
The f'ing car is now possessed. Windows and sunroof randomly open after the car is locked. He's come to the car at night after work to find everything open! Turns out the guy who did it is now in NC and not available.

Looking for an indy that has the ability to program the E46 body computer and can UNDO the codes this guy set. Anyone know a good local shop?

Try Autoscandia in Herndon. I think they have the computers & software to program most modern BMWs.

If you want to DIY I can ask a friend who did this to his 5er for the software.

Yani, one of our skidpad guys, has the snap-on scanner and does this stuff as his dayjob, but he is North of Baltimore...

From what I'm reading, its possible that the pass door lock actuator is causing the problem. Its been a bit sticky, and that apparently causes this weird 'open all' fault.
what the best [read cheapest] source for parts? Rockauto does not appear to have the #51217011308 actuator.

I know Pelican sells them, cant say it's the cheapest though.

Bavauto.com (NH)
getbmwparts.com (MD) = best dealer supplied prices
autohausaz.com (AZ)
partsgeek.com (NJ)
eaceuroparts.com (OH)
bmpdesign.com (TX)
OEMBimmerparts.com (?)

* Note: looks like that part number is good for mfg. up to 9/00 ... then a different number?
