Helping daughters boyfriend replace the steering rack in 328 xi

Looks like I have a lot of structural parts to remove.

Rockville BMW quoted over $8000 in repairs including 2700 for the rack, which is leaking. Can the end seals be replaced?

The quote came with little tech articles on the repairs and mostly done to scare the hell out of you if you don't do their "recommended" repairs.

Over 800 for pads and rotors.

I have a Bentley E36 manual that I downloaded but don't remember where.

Anyone have a quick link handy?

I bought a disc off ebay for $10 with the manual on it. I prefer the $100 I spent on the Bentley manual.

It's huge. It has a lot of wiring diagrams in the back.

Bought an E46 328i for my son today, so I'm looking for the E46 shop manual too.
Is the Ebay pdf copy reliable/complete? If so, that looks like the only option [aside from copying somebody's paper copy].

^I just showed this post to Ben and said "Tony K is so much nicer than me." Very nice, Tony. Can't help with the shop manual.
