Last year the family gave me a bookshelf radio that can recieve the bluetooth signal from my droid.

I figure that someone must make something to recieve the signal and input to my RCA input jacks on my older home audio or car stereo.

Anyone have a recommendation on something that actually works?

Vu, ya out there?
Thanks!

I use RCA to 1/8 inch mini jack cables. Cheap and best sound quality.

For car, plenty of radios out there with bluetooth, but ipod or usb connection still the best sound quality.

As for home, several docks out there for various phones. Again wired is best for sound quality in my opinion...

Haven't used a bluetooth one personally, but might try this:

I have just the device. It needs power from a USB port and has a 1/8 stereo plug that you could add RCA inputs to. I use it in one of my cars. It works well in my opinion. I live in Darnestown too so feel free to come check it out sometime.

What's that in the dock that is rising the iPhone? Know someone looking to be able to dock and charge with a case on

Hmmm...I've had my phone connect to some cars via bluetooth and the audio quality was horrible.

Wonder why if digital is digital?

Article I found, which may support my impressions:

When Is Good Good Enough?
Bluetooth was originally endowed with a very low bit rate that restricted how much data it could handle. While it certainly sufficed for voice applications, it was never designed for things like delivering high-quality audio. But newer versions of Bluetooth — or "profiles" — have amped up the bit rate. In particular, an upgrade called Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) was introduced.

In theory, A2DP has plenty of bandwidth for stereo music and should sound just fine. But in practice, even an A2DP Bluetooth connection may provide only marginally adequate sound quality. There are several reasons for this, and if you want to get technical, you can click here.

If you carry your music collection around on an MP3 player or phone and are more concerned with convenience than sound quality, streaming music using A2DP in the car might sound good enough — something close to FM sound quality. Sometimes you can use the device menus to improve fidelity. For example, you may be able to increase the bit rate or ask the device to send and receive MP3 or AAC files directly instead of converting them.

But the sad reality is that Bluetooth sound quality is all over the map. If you want the ultimate sound quality, then you must do what audiophiles have always done: Listen for yourself and try to find Bluetooth devices that satisfy your own ears.

One non-audio caveat with Bluetooth audio and Bluetooth in general: It can impose a serious battery drain on portable devices, so plan accordingly. And don't forget to bring along your car charger.

It's the adapter for my iphone 5. Allows me to use all of my older standard iphone docking station accessories.

I'm with Vu. The bluetooth standard has so many levels and spec's, that it's really a crap shoot on what the connection between the two devices will support.

I ordered the Logitech unit above out of curiosity...will report back. Bought it from Amazon, so if doesn't work well returns are easy peasy...

Didnt even know people attempted it before a2dp! It has plenty of bandwidth if the distance isnt too far.

Follow up report:

Amazon delivered the Logitech unit today. Hooked it up just like I have my iphone dock to my tube amp and transmission line speakers.

+Observations:
-super easy hook up
-walked all over the house with my phone and bluetooth did not drop

-Observations:
-output is lower than the dock set up. Needed to crank the volume about 25% higher to get same volume
-slight noise introduced that is noticeable with low volume or quiet tracks
-dynamic range is def limited

Overall great for casual/background listening. For clarity/def not the way to go. Back to Amazon it goes...

Let me know if anyone comes across a better performing one.

Saw that way to late for xmass gift
What's the power input
Meaning can it be easily put in a car/boat?
Sound quality is relative in a 30+ year old 911

I use the bluetooth radio at work all the time.
Great to not have my phone teathered to it.
