Thinking of getting into an M3, what are any pro's or con's to owning one besides cost of ownership?

Any advice welcome..

Thanks in advance!

Besides cost? then nothing.

Any particular vintage M3? Like other cars, each vintage has its own plusses and minuses.

E90 M3 = V8 (415hp?)
E46 = Straight 6 (333 hp?)

Like most modern BMWs, coolant systems can be questionable (ie, lots of plastic, often need to replace radiators). Both cars are remarkable performers. Each generation gets a little bigger and heavier.

Do you want a Coupe, Convertible or Sedan? Do you have a price range? Do you want to use as a track car? Daily Driver? Manual or flappy paddle?

2001-2005 = E46 M3: Rod bearing, Vanos tab, Vanos bolt issues. Rear subframe tearing issue. All E36 issues (cooling system, rear trailing arms, etc)

2008+ = E9X M3: Nothing Ive really read about but they are also fairly new.

You may want to read up on the subframe failure...
