I really got to like VIR at the end of the last event, so I'm planning to go back there later this month (with David Murray Track Days, open track all day for two days!).
I'd appreciate opinions on staying at the Lodge vs Pit Lanes vs Paddock Garage. Stayed at the Villas last time, which was nice, but this time it's just me, so I don't need the extra space.
I've stayed in a Villa and Garage Suite, but not the Lodge. If rolling solo, I would just stay in a garage suite. No driving anywhere, and you get a few breakfast items.
Oh, and there's a mini fridge.

garage suite. nothing better than simply having to walk up a couple stairs from your car to the "meat locker" in order to escape the heat. :p

X3 on the garage suite. Bring a grill and stock the fridge with steak and beer and you can really survive quite well in the paddock. :)

The Lodge rooms are virtually identical to the garage suites, just in a 4 story building, and just outside the paddock. I believe the Lodge rooms are less expensive, too. I've always preferred the convenience of the Garage suites (as long as the garage below you isnt' too ornery....). But the Lodge is a great fallback.

OK, Garage as first choice, Lodge as backup. Thanks!

imho, the beds in the lodge are much nicer than those in the garage suites. The garage suites are those fold up into the wall beds.
With that said, given the choice, I'd stay in the garage suites. As mentioned above, nothing better than having a cold or warm (depending on the outside weather) shelter just a few steps away as well as a shorter walk to your own bathroom.

agree, beds bad in garage, but nice to be so close.
I am staying in garage for David Murray event later this month. I will be there with my Silver Bullet (2011 GT3RS). Sly is coming too but not sure which car - either '77 red monster or 2010 GT3... look for me, lets have a beer at the Bar on site in that old plantation house.

Lodge has big jacuzzi tub and separate shower. But, if you rent a garage, the convenience of the being close to your room cannot be beat.

Only drawback I've heard about the garage suites is if someone is up all night "fixing" their car below you. It's been known to happen.

DMTDs are like a fast RED run group all day

EXACTLY - all day long.

Decided to stay at the Villa because the beds are good, spacious room, and the cost is only $30/day more than the other two. Liked the idea of staying at the garage, but the potential noise and lesser beds were a concern. Thanks for the advice!

I just signed up. I'll look for you, and will be in the white Cayman R.
