Here's the 2nd session on Saturday. By the last few laps I had thoroughly overheated the tires. You can see the speed differential between Clarke and me on the last lap. Even if I wasn't slip sliding around it wouldn't have been much different!

Any feedback and help reaching Justin's 2:06 (!) lap would be greatly appreciated. :)

It was nice to meet you KJ finally, and again I am sorry about the yellow flag passing. Nice driving too, had hard time keeping up with you. What tires are you using btw?

Also, I think you can use the 2nd gear a little less, there is plenty of data that shows that more shifts actually makes you loose time, rather than gain.

Cheers,

Fatih,

No worries at all! it was good to finally meet you as well.
I was using some older Hoosier R6s during this run. I'd had them in the garage since the 2010 Summit club race but they still felt pretty grippy!
When we were running together I was using some VERY old R888s. If you're coming to Summit I'll be back on those R888s since I plan to drive the car back and forth to Summit this weekend.

Nothing like a 2011 RS in newer R6's :)

Local PCA rumor is that newer RS are for chicks real man drive racing or cup cars :D

KJ that is some really nice driving, love the way you using all those curbs and you freaking fast at oak tree!

Is that a stock 996 GT3 or a J prep car??

Yes, they are for chicks and Sly can sling a GT3 around the track. 2:26 at Sebring in the 2010 GT3 last weekend.

just sayin...

plus then you'd have matching black 997 GT3s..... and her's would have the 'taco' style wing, which seems fitting.

Nice driving!

Do you have data?

I pull 5 before the upper esses (tried it in 6th with the Cup) and 4th through southbend. By staying in a higher gear the car feels more relaxed and it helps me stay in the throttle more through the whole section

Unfortunately, no data.
If I've fully committed to the lap then I'll pull 5th before the upper esses, but I think the stock 6GT3 has longer gearing than your cup car, right? The car still feels stable using 4th. If I pull 5th then I use 4th for southbend. I'm still iffy around that corner after going off there and only narrowly missing the port-o-potty by the flag station up the hill.

Thanks. No, the car is a DE/Weekend fun car. It's got a DAS Sport bar, euro seats and some monotube JRZs but that's about it. I would think a J prep car would be significantly lighter and use a better suspension.

Yeah, the Cup is redline in 5th at the entry to the upper esses. The revs drop REALLY fast when you bleed off the throttle, so 6th gear was too docile.

But I am using 5th and 4th, respectively, in the Cayman. And 5th in both the upper esses and southbend in the GT2. Curious what other 6GT3 are doing.

only narrowly missing the port-o-potty by the flag station up the hill.

I imagine that has a lasting effect. Gotta a pro tip in Southbend that's helped me. I'll look for ya around the beer tub this weekend.
