IMHO, if you can find a shop that uses the Hunter Road Force balancing machine, you should get pretty good results. I know that's what TireVan also has on their trucks, and they good a nice job as well as coming to you, but not sure Manassas is in their service area. The Hunter RF machine actually measures forces against the tread surface so looks for out-of-round issues in addition to simple weight balance.

I live in South Riding.. Tirevan DOES service here.. so I would also think Manassas. Locally, I've used Curry's (chantilly site, although they now have a gainsville site) to rotate/swap tires in the past.

Thanks!!! I'm going to give Curry's a call in Gainsville.

After exchanging emails and a phone call, I'm going with Tirevan instead of Curry's in Gainsville. Curry's staff was a little rude and stated bring your car in but most likely we'll not get to it and you'll be wasting your time?

Did you mention you had a Curry's gift card? Any dorki can loan you one and I hear you get better service with one of those. ;)

Didn't know about the gift card. I've heard good things about Tirevan and it's time I give them a try.

Thanks,
John

FWIW......I think when a shop starts opening multiple stores, it gets very hard to maintain quality. Matt Curry is a very conscientious shop owner, but he can't be everywhere all the time.

Curry's has not been producing the quality work that their reputation is based on. Most of their management is from "tire store" mentality. Their focus is now on numbers of customers vs. how often those customers return for service.

The Gainesville location sees themselves in direct competition with the Goodyear down the street. That Goodyear is the #1 store in the country.

Curry's has gotten away from focusing on higher end vehicles, to working on ANYTHING. I work with a tech that worked in two of their locations. He said they would have him working on a F-350 (he is a Porsche, VW/Audi tech) and a guy with GM or Ford experience working on a 997TT. :?

This clearly demonstrates that they are about the numbers and not about providing the BEST service for their customers.

Goodyear is #1 in the country? Wow. They sure see a lot of my cars.

The Gainesville location is the #1 store in the chain, the guy who owns it also a couple others in the area which are all in the top 5.
