fuel gauge 78 SC

The fuel gauge in my 78 SC says I have 1/4 tank when it runs out of fuel. Is there an easy way to adjust this?

Take the sending unit out of the gas tank nd clean it. IIRC there's a DIY article on the Pelican site.
