Engine Support Bar

My motor mounts are starting to drive me a bit crazy, and since there is currently little else to fix on the car (I just jinxed myself) I'm thinking of tackling them sometime this spring. Does anyone have an engine support bar that I could borrow while I try to do this? I've read the Clarks Garage and Haynes instructions which list using a floor jack and wood to lift from the bottom. Ideally I'd like the support up top and on the bottom to keep from hurting myself. I also think with a proper engine support I can get enough lift to drop the oil pan and replace that gasket while I'm under the car.

Looks like the Harbor Freight option is about $60 bucks, so it's not too expensive to buy one if need be.

a 4x4 is a good support 'bar' for up top -- just like Lucky did in the Boxster clutch replacement thread that was posted this morning.

I'll pay the sixty bucks and buy something so I can sue someone if it fails. The other reason for a top support is for some additional elbow room while removing / installing the mounts.

I have a wood 4x4 bolted together nice and safe. You can borrow it for free, but it's under the deck with the spiders!!!!

MM on a fofo are a pita,after you pick up the engine they don't want to go back correctly, keep the bolts loose on the block, you using the ford ones?

I have one, but I live close to Baltimore. If you're willing to come up
and get it, or meet me somewhere convenient, you can borrow it.

I have chains and links to attach to the hoist points too.
