I have 2 questions. I have pagid yellows for the track. Do they wear that much during light street driving to the point it's worth switching them or is it more the noise factor? If so, who makes good low dust, low noise street pads? I've read Textar or Pagid make an OE street pad for under $100.

I use the cheapo $26 mintex (http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=964-351-939-03-M168&catalog_description=Front%20Brake%20Pad%20Set%2C%2 0911%20Carrera%202%20%281990-94%29) for the street. They don't squeak at all, low dust, work fine for the street, and are dirt cheap.

Even just light street driving was covering my wheels with track pad dust. I figured with that much dust, it must be noticeably wearing the pads. I don't care about the dust or noise, but I'd rather not waste $$$ track pads driving around in DC traffic.

Don't even think of using the $26 mintex on the track though. I tried it once and they lasted quite literally 3 laps before they caught on fire.

LOL that's right you were!! Here's what they looked like after just a few minutes on track. They were *brand new* in the box, I had just put them on the car in the paddock before going out.

I run Textar on my street only (occasional hpdc) 964. Not any quieter then the Pagid's that I had on it. They all squeak until you get them warmed up. They tend to cool down in the least enjoyable spots like when you pull up to a valet or are driving through Bethesda at dusk on a perfect Saturday evening with the top down. 1 in 100 knows that a Porsche is "suppose" to sound like that.

The Pagid/Textar are decent street pads. Ive sold many of those and they are under $100. You could also go with SUPER cheap PBR/Axxis Deluxe. Those are like $30. The Pagid/Textar do come with shims which help with noise. The PBRs do not.
