Complete set of Fuchs wheels for a 911; will fit years 1978 to 1989. The fronts are 7x15 and the rears are 8x15. This is a great setup if you want an extra set of wheels/tires for DE or Auto-X.

Wheels are in very good condition with new valve stems and high-speed aluminum valve stem supports. Yoko A-032R’s are currently mounted on the rims.

Front wheels are stamped “911 361 020 41” and “7Jx15”.
Rears are stamped “911 361 020 42” and “8Jx15”.

Asking $750 for all four wheels/tires.

Good luck with the sale. Those are priced reasonably.

Those are popular rims with the 944Cup group. I recently sold a similar set to a 944 racer in Texas. Consider also posting on the Classified forum over at 44cup.com.

I'd like to put in a plug for another excellent transaction here on the Dorki Board.

Bruce was very gracious and the wheels were exactly as he represented them. We enjoyed our talk -- he's an ex-Marine and I'm Army so we had much in common.

Each time I meet someone new on this Board it turns out even better than I might have hoped. :)

Best Regards,
Andy

Andy:

I'm assuming the picture is your '68 911.

Are those SC flares on your car with the new to you 8X15s in back?

Thx.

I am glad my wheels found a good home. I know Andy will get many years of enjoyment from them on his beautiful 1968 911. They look great!

Now, if I can just find a nice home for my Dansk muffler. :)

Thanks for the thumbs up, Scott. Much appreciated. It's just 130 hp (original 2.0L engine) but she runs well and makes great sounds. And as I get slower in my old age that means I can still have fun, but at velocities at the speed limit.

Jase, you're correct -- those are SC flares... which is probaby not the easiest thing to make fit properly on a short wheelbase 1968 911.:) The prior owner fitted them up and frankly I like them well enough to just leave them be. The 8" rear wheels are helpful vs the original 6" Fuchs from back in 1968.

Bruce, hope you'll stop by and visit if you're up this way! And you were right -- the smaller diameter tires = acceleration. Now I can actually use 5th gear more often. May need to recalibarate the speedometer though, or.. there's always the old "put 25mph/55mph/65mph tape marks on the speedo's glass face" trick...

Best Regards,
Andy

* If you are not sure what to do with your 6X15 fuchs ... I could take them off your hands. Needed for 2 of my cars. Thanks. :)

Andy, really nice car and the wheels look great on it. Coincidentally I was thinking of these wheels for my 68 project car -- also with outlaw flares. The phone dials currently on it aren't my favorite and there are spacers there as well. Kind of hard for me to figure what will look best on a car with the wrong flare.

Kind of hard for me to figure what will look best on a car with the wrong flare.Fuchs or BBS look the best IMO. The phonies look OK painted black. They came standard on '84-'8X Carreras.

Hi Jase,

I'm afraid the 6" Fuchs are long gone, in fact I never had them. As long as I've had my '68 it's had the flairs and 7 & 8" wheels... but the ones that I've used since buying it 2 years ago were repli-Fuchs put on by the PO. I wanted a set of real ones, so I bought Bruce's wheels and will do something else with the repli-Fuchs.

Mike, your car looks neat -- what color is that and are those SC flairs or 911R-type flairs? Or RS? I have narrow spacers on the rear hubs but nothing on the front. The tire profile starts to come into play as you go to 7" front wheels on the early SWB cars but mine seem to JUST fit. If I drop the car more than the "3 finger gap" level I think they might (not sure) rub and then I'd have to roll the front fenders, but I haven't had to roll them yet. The rear fenders still have some room to go and I could probably use slightly wider spacers to move the wheels out and gain some more track but it's not worth the additional load on the rear wheel bearings IMO.

DR! How are you? Happy New Year! I would add Minilite or American Racing "torque thrust" 5-spoke style wheels to your list as they would be period correct.

Next step for me is to strip away the black paint on the spokes (and I mean only the 5 spokes -- rim edge stays aluminum & the black paint behind the spokes remains untouched) in order to give these wheels the early Fuchs look from mid/late 60s. The solid black centers look very 1970s/80s as they are now.

Best Regards,
Andy

Best Regards,
AndyVery well thank you and totally agree with the mimis! Don't recall what the AR "thust"s look like though :? I run 9s on the back of the SC without drama but 130hp can only do so much! BTW, car is stunning. What plans for the future?

Andy,

The color is Porsche LY7V, a dark metallic grey. This is a better picture of the color. The flares on all four corners are similar to '72 width. The phone dial wheels and spacers on it were my dad's track setup. Although I want to go back to Fuchs, I haven't decided what will fill out the fender the same way. He solved the rubbing issue with a baseball bat, which is why I had to weld new flares on all around! I'm going to have to be more careful.

Please post another picture once you redo your wheels, it sounds just like what I want to do.

DR: regarding American Racing wheels, see this thread over on the early 911S registry website, has good photos on pg. 3:

Mike, Nice color! I'll post photos after the stripping of the spokes.

Plan ahead is to replace the '74 IROC RSR rear bumper with a '73 RS bumper. I may also replace the front "S" fiberglass bumper with a normal 65-68 bumper or with a 911R fiberglass (no lip) bumper. We'll see where we go after that. Regardless, I'm going to get too crazy with mods, still want a street-drivable car, although after seeing what Kurt M. was able to do with his car I'd kill to turn it over to him for 6 months and see what he could do with my chassis... :)

Best Regards,
Andy

Best Regards,
AndyLet me know if you decide on the RS bumper. I'm looking for a used IROC one for the SC. BTW the link above takes you to another link off the early S board that has a cool description of most all the early wheels (for non P cars). Your SWB car is a gem, if you go wild I'd go with a mid year and keep the SWB like it is (except for big motor, sways, t-bars, brakes etc. ofcourse ;)) L always wanted a SWB coupe for Auto-X.

Hey Guys,

After 6(!) hours of slow. methodical work with stripper and painting the lines back, here's what the wheels look like.

This looks more period correct for a 1968 model than the solid black centers, do you agree?

Andy

Wow, that looks terrific! The centers on my '68 (before the phone dials) were shiny, but without the painted shield.

The wheels are perfectly balanced -- was on I-95 for about 10 miles and she was rock solid. Wonderful.

Clarke, I was going pretty slow this morning. I learned a hard lesson about cold tires, the "red mist" and too much speed on a race track once -- I've never forgotten it! :)

Besides, a 1968 Porsche 911 has a massive 130hp on tap, so it's hard to get TOO crazy with it. Makes great sounds at 7,000 RPM though.

Now, DR, about that 3.0 Liter engine you're taking out....

AndyHummm, that's a good idea, sell me the '68 and I an put the 3.0 and 915 in it for a truely nice "upgrade"
BTW, we've had tons of fun with our '71 (125hp) :D

When I worke in Quantico a few years back, I used to drive 619 every day in our Miata. Not much power, but still a load of fun.:)
