View Full Version : Possible to get a toe-only alignment done?

I understand that all the labor in an alignment is in the camber adjustment -- messing with the aptly-named eccentric bolt. (I just did a full alignment in October 07.)

I've done my front struts (doing rears soon) and have set my camber to full negative on both sides. Using a metal square, I have determined that the two sides are equally negative. No idea how negative, but I'm assuming that without camber plates, and with moderate lowering, I'm probably at 2.5 to 3 degrees max.

Using the Bob-The-Builder tape measure method, it does appear that front toe is excessive (again, not sure how far off -- just off).

Would it make sense to get a toe-only alignment done? If so, I might try a basic independent shop and just give them the toe specs.

HBL does a full alignment for $149.

I think that's only for newer cars. But I'll definitely check!

PS: And I think the Bilstein coilovers create more negative camber than the stock springs can by lowering. I'm not going to go very low, though.

Nope. I know of 944 Turbo race cars that have been aligned at HBL for that price, and very accurately too.

Yep, HBL is $149 for a 944.

Since the sensors HBL uses to mount to the wheels measure toe, camber, and caster, might as well have all of them checked. You probably want to know what your camber is, anyway.

If you want, meet me over by Arrundel Mills at At Speed, I am going in next week for my alignment / corner balance.
