Some of you know that my 75 911s Targa has enough structural rust that I should consider parting ways with the car and seek a replacement shell. Well, I have done so and intend to make the swap sometime in April.
I am curious if anyone has any interest in the shell as it is. Will get to offering up parts which dont get used later, but for now am just wanting to know if anyone has interest in a 75 shell as a whole. The second step will be if anyone needs any particular pieces prior to my cutting the car up completely. Rick, Kurt feel free to add your thoughts to the level of effort required to make the car a solid driver (if you think that is even possible) if you like.
Thanks. Tito

Just curious why cut? Tub worth ~$350 in scrap just borrow a trailer and drop off.

Dave, If that is possible, I will do so. Would need to borrow a trailer and the means to move it and if it is feasible will do just that if no one wants it. tito

Because it would be fun!

We can prolly work something out for a trailer and I just use an engine hoist to lift the tub onto the trailer.

Bump for a 911 targa shell! Anyone looking for a welding project?
:)
It's looking like we'll be starting the drivetrain/suspension/wiring swap into a coupe chassis later this month. If anyone is interested in helping just let Tito or myself know and we'll keep you in the details loop.

Well the 75 targa has been stripped and awaits being cut up. It is going to get cut up the 12/13th. I have a request for the door posts, the rear part inside the engine and i think the roccer area (though that is going to require some work to make sound).
if you have any requests for pieces of metal please let me know. the rear shelf and seat area is in good condition. The front clip is ok, with the exception of the area where the bumper post attach. That would have to be redone. It will go pretty cheap. really just looking to cover costs for having to take the time to deal with it.
Also have SC flares available for 125 (pair) and the fenders can be had as well for 100 each. I also have a rear targa window with a new gasket already glued on for 250. the rest of the parts will come out gradually after i determine what isnt going to move onto the new shell. Thanks.

I would love it if you could save the area to the outside of the pedal box. Kinda like a dogleg. Everything from the box to the rocker from the floor up about 6". For some reason, that is the only area my '76 has rust.

How good is the rear glass? My brother may be intrested for his 73 Targa.
Think it will fit?
Another good and easy cut-off would be the rear lid lifter mount.
For those who put tails or duck tails and want the second support so the decklid doesn't twist. I cut one out of my cab and put it on the targa and the deck lid is now very happy!

Bill, the glas should fit and great idea about the extra support!

My brother Geoff wants the rear glass assuming it fits and is in good shape.
Where is the car / glass located?
Can you post some pictures?
When can he come take a look?
Do you still have the top or any parts of it?

This reminded me about my windshield crack. Is yours still good and available? Would it fit a 1970 T? I don't know what, if anything has been changed on the window sizes.

Will try and keep track of the listed pieces and cut them as requested. Once done will hopefully get them to Manassas where they can be had.
The glass is fine. I dont think the rear heater on the glass functions. currently it sits in Richmond. Will have a chance for some pics after the week fo the 13th.
I do have the top. It was completely redone at the cost of 1500 about 7 years ago. Does have some slight damage on both front edges and also bent the rail slightly in that area, where it flew off the car and hit the ground. both small areas covered with liquid leather. It is very solid and in good shape otherwise. will try and post a pic next week. It is already at home. tito

ultimately the rear glass, my new project and all the parts and metal off the 75 will be in manassas, no later than the weekend of the 20th. so yes. Your brother can surely have the first crack (pardon the pun) on the rear glass. thanks for the tip on the engine cover lifter. will cut it out for myself and use it on the cab.

Thanks, I'll let him know.
I left a little sheet metal on the bracket because it was spot welded. I ground the extra close to the bracket itself and stuck it up to the underside with some epoxy and 2 small bolts thru the rear deck. There was two layers on one area. I think epoxy and a few short sheet metal screws would hold it. I didn't want to remove all that was necessary to weld it in place. Oh yea, do this before you install the engine.
I ordered the right deck lid hinge for an early turbo. Only to find out that it was a normal hinge modified slightly with a metal tab.
Hope this picture helps. Little big!
