Any recommendations on brand and where to buy?

I currently have BillJ's old Simpsons.....

My best suggestion is a visit to OG Racing. Opportunity to see and handle different brands and styles. Plus the folks at OG are very knowledgable.

I prefer the camlocks over the latch. All major brands appear to work well (Sparco, Schroth, etc). Sometimes color may be the deciding factor.

Just make sure you plan out all the necessary hardware. Consider possible interference with seat movement when locating mounts. For lap and sub belts, you might want to consider removable latch type.

Get a brand/style you like. I bought Sabelts, there were expensive and probably good quality. But, boy, were they hard to adjust. Whenever I got in to a students car that had a harness, I took mental notes as to their ease of use. Second go round, I bought a cheaper set of G-force, and what a difference. Found out that they use Sabelt hardward, but there webbing was softer and easier to manipulate. Third go round, I did G-force again. Cam locks are the way to go.

If PCA requires DE cars to have non-expired harness dates, look into FIA rated belts. They are good for 5yrs instead of 2 for SFI. As long as its <2.5x more, then you come out ahead in the end.

FWIW, I've have the schroth "hybrid" 6-pt in car #330 and its easier to use than the simpson 6-pt in #54 (both of these use sub belts that hook on/though the lap belts to keep any metal tab from poking you in the legs.) If you're looking for speed, the more common bottom tab style is still quicker to clip into (like a scroth "profi" model)

Tony's observation is dead on. Look where the adjusters (both pull up/dpwn and the figure 8 ones that attach to the car) go once you're strapped in. Most have an annoying habit of being just in the wrong spot and hang on the seat holes.

Check them out in person. As alluded too, you will find a brand like Schroth to have very soft webbing (which makes them more comfortable and easier to adjust) and others are very stiff. I was looking at belts last week. I last used a set of Simpsons that took "years" to soften up and be comfortable. The Schroths were, out of the box, softer than my "used" belts. That said, Schroth, 6pt Profi III are about $275/seat whereas say, G-Forces are about $135/seat.

Also, if running a H&N system, the type of belt (size of webbing) you use could be important too.

From what i see in the regs it is not that they are expired but that they are not more than 5 years old.
