View Full Version : 944 - Solid, metal clunk from the right rear while turning...

... hard left. It's just a noise. Big heavy clunk like a major suspension piece slipping (my vivid imagination running wild). No associated dynamic change in the car. I should be able to look around underneath this weekend. Any likely culprits?

Does it have coil over shocks in back? Or possibly adjustable sway bar? My 89 S2 has both it does make some noises.

Nope. (At least not yet.) It could well be a faulty sway bar link.

Check the nut on the top of your rear shock on that side. Ask me how I thought of this...
Did an entire DE at SPR with the nut either loose or off -- it was off and sitting on top of the engine for the drive home Car passed inspection with the clunk

That's the kind of sound it is! thanks. Very convenient that the nut jumped onto and clung to the engine for you.

Also ensure your CV joint bolts are tight.

If you have a limited slip, when's the last time you changed the transaxle fluid?

Any noise over bumps or just in hard turns?
