I've seen severaal 3 series lately with no markings. Is this the 'in' thing -or some special 3 series you can buy without 330, 318, etc. on the trunk? only the bmw symbol is in the middle. anyone know what i'm talking about?

Are you talking about the twins or the transverse 4's? I only recall seeing the bmw badge on the tank.

In most cases, they probably have a smaller one

Yes, that's the popular thing to do.
I actually saw an Infinity Skyline today...don't know if it was real. Looks like a tarted up 350zx

I have debadged every German car I have ever owned . . . and each one had the largest motor. Sleepppaaaahhhhhhh . . .

Either that or they bought the Maaco $99 paint special which didn't include badge reapplication.

Interestingly enough, the Club Coupe has the "Carrera S" badge on the rear of the car.

Debadging was an option from the factory, and every time I see the car I want to debadge it.

However, I am trying to do my best to leave the car alone so that it stays as it was from the factory.

Mine's debadged because one of the numbers snagged and bent when washing the car, and I'm too cheap to pay BMW real money for plastic numbers.

At least you are honest. :)

I've seen the E30 crowd debadge for stealth looks and the E36 crowd too. Haven't seen E46 or E90 versions debadged except for those that paid uber $$$ to in mods for the Dinan emblem.

Worse ... putting the "////M" emblem on ANY bmw that isn't an M. = Poseur

At the Deutsche Marque show two yrs. ago I saw a 3.0 CSI with an M badge on it and just about puked. But then I looked under the hood and it was a real M3 engine. So that was kind of cool.

If you really know your 3 series cars, you can usually tell what it is without the model badge. Tail lights, muffler tips, wheels and front grill inserts are almost all different between the 2 and 4 dr. cars, 323, 325, 228 and 330i's and xi's.
