Okay, does the coxster come with a paddle-shift gearbox? WTF was up with those downshifts?

Nope, it's called heel-n-toe. You should try it sometime. See picture below for more details.

i'm pretty sure you can make any car 'have' paddle shift... it's only a matter of how much you spend.... even smart cars have paddle shift :)

i'm crap at german but here's the team homepage. maybe it has stuff abut the tranny

edit: from the pics it looks like a regular sequential...

I would guess its a race transmission - sequential box, taken from a 996/997 race car.

Yeah. Sounds like straight-cut gears. Sorry Rob, some of us can drive the track despite our slow-shifting old 915's...you Boxster guys need some kind of an advantage.

umm that is a race friggin car. Cayman based and fast, sounds like a sequential gearbox.

The vid is of the MSpeed Cayman doing a qualifying run for the VLN race on the Nordschleife. That is the yearly Lemans style endurance race held at Nordschleife.

Yes, I watch too much European racing.

For fun... Here is a pic of the MSPeed

I've been reading but can't find what V8 that is? RS Spyder? Cut-down CGT V10?

Seriously, what is that engine. Wow. But it might raise your center of gravity a trifle...

the class these guys run it could be anything... my guess would be for the cayenne... the way these cars could be built, they could've ripped it apart so the engine would sit as low as possible... it's only a racecar after all... then again, slightly higher c.o.g. can be made up for w/ more speed/acceleration... they're all full of compromises ;)

Good catch on the engine. That engine is supposed to based on a Cayenne V8 using turbo plenums. The official press info says that they run a 6 cylinder 3.9L 520hp engine but plan to fit a V10 for 24hrs of Nurb. ??

Thats a CGT motor. Gonna be a heck of a lot of work to squeeze that into a cayman...

The vee angle looked low like a CGT V10, but I only counted 4 coil packs. Maybe they're gonna run it on 8 cylinders to sandbag it :-)

Yes, a front coil pack is missing but there are 5 injectors;) The real proof is that it matches the pcna's cutaway photo on the web;)
