I had been waiting for the weather to get nice, but I finally gave up figuring today was as nice as it's getting. And I put the new rear torsion bars in this afternoon. Went from 27 to 30 hollow. Surprisingly easy. Only took about an hour. Start to finish, indexing and all. I even think I managed to keep my alignment setting!

Cool, nice job!!! Did you pt them in without removing the spring plates? Jase007 may want to talk to you.

sweet. i did that exact same job w/ jazzbass' help. also from 27's -> 30's. don't know whether i managed to keep my alignment or not (sway-a-way's), but then a bonehead in a '44 managed to 'fix' it for me anyway at the cr

let me know how you find it driving on the streets. mine's a bit harsh, even on 55 profile street tires. almost tempted to run on snows year round to add some cushioning

No springplate removal needed. But then I have the fancy weltmeister adjustables.

Sway-away spring plates make this job sooooo easy. OEM plate? Not so much.

27mm to 30mm...watch that rear end next weekend, it's gonna feel quite a bit different.
What size fornts are you running?

Great so, when I'm in my 10th hour of attempting a t-bar change will you help me figure it out if I split a great 6-pack with ya?

I have the sway-a-way adjustables too. Though ... mine are coming completely off for the TB swap as ER polys are going on to match the fronts.

Nice job Cliff. :)

All parts are in.. but VIR is in 1 week - no chance I'm tearing anything apart right now. Probably weekend after Zone 2.

For those NOT going to VIR, Ben and I will be at Liberty ALL weekend (Friday night, Saturday, Sunday). Send me an email tomorrow or just show up and find me at Ski Patrol and I'll try to get some comp lift tickets. Bring dessert!!

I've been running 22's in front, with the 27's in back. Lots of understeer whenever you want it. And wheel lift in T9, and around oak tree. The 30's should be interesting.

My bushings are new already so no wurez there. This was the first time I had done this, and the first side took about 45 minutes, mostly due to figuring the indexing. But then I had the hang of it. The second side took about 12-and-a-half minutes, tops.

We're planning to take the kids up to Ski Liberty this Saturday. Will you be there? We've been promising Axel (age 5) a snow board lesson.

It's amazing how quickly history gets re-written... IIRC, you didn't touch the spring plates (let alone even know what they were called/did) while Emery, Jase, and I took care of all the schiznizzle for you...

Aligned and corner balanced today at ASG, and ready to go. Probably won't make me any faster, but feels much more stable and lively than how it was set up before.

Probably won't make me any faster, but feels much more stable and lively than how it was set up before.

Operative words:

faster = yup, less wallow at all points of cornering
stable = yup, more control of weight transfer
lively = well, that's between you and the missus ;)
