Is this cruise control?

The '78 has a large black solenoid looking thing near the fuel filter and mounted on the firewall with a cable running to the throttle. Is this part of a cruise control? If so, I'm pulling it and anything else dealing with cruise.

Don't remove it - it's great on the track. You set it for max speed at the end of the main straight, and then just hit "resume" as you apex each turn. Don't even need to use your right foot except to brake. P-car cruise control lets you shift without losing the setting, so you just keep your right foot on the brake, left on the clutch, and away you go! ;)
