I'm in need of an air condition condensor for an ' 88 Carrera. If you have one collecting dust and need to get it out from under foot I'd be interested in knowing.

Thanks!

I've got a nice rear condensor from my '85 Carrera available.

Oops. Yes a rear condensor would be what I'm looking for.

I do need a rear one. What do you need for it? Any reason it why it wouldn't work on an '88?

Bob,

I'm not sure. I think somewhere around '88 or '89 the rear condensor changed. Maybe that's only for turbos, I'm not sure.

Perhaps someone here knows for sure if it is the same. Can you take a few detailed pics of the condensor you have now?

Yep. I'll get some pictures and put them up. Maybe someone in the know will chime in as well. Thanks.

Thanks! I dropped Michael a PM. Appreciate the heads up.

As for the pictures, I've resized them down to 150 KB and less and they still exceed the limit. I'll keep trying.

OK. Here's one shot I was able to get uploaded.

Michael dropped me a reply. He's still working out what he's going to do with his AC system - so no parts available at the moment. Good thought though. Thanks.

Bob,

I need to double check but I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have that cutout in the corner - it's more of a rectangle. That's the change I was referring to.

Understood. I appreciate the help. Let me know if the AC gods are smiling on me and yours happens to be the same. Thanks.

I did some checking. The cut out is necessary because I have a rear wiper and this allows the condensor to fit around the motor.

Bahh...just get rid of the wiper. Extra weight and all....

Why not just get rid of the AC? and the wiper WYIT.

Moving South - way South - to Naples Florida in a couple of months. So AC is pretty much a must have. Particularly in a black on black car. I kinda like the look of the rear wiper but I would toss it if need be to get a condesor on the car.

The two small tubes coming up to one of the fittings have been twisted (wrenched) until they broke. Think it could be repaired? I guess I could always order one from ZIMS that fits in the wheel well or someplace else. Would prefer to not drop $500 or more on the parts though.

Bob,

I checked and my condensor does not have the cutout for the wiper motor. It is in very nice shape though - minimal bent fins, etc.

When I pulled it from my Carrera I taped off the ends to make sure no junk would end up inside the condensor.

Let me know if you want to remove the wiper and use this condensor. I could bring it up on Friday.
