Is this car way overpriced given the miles on the chasis? Does the rebuild and the new suspension overcome the chasis miles if you ever wanted to resell it?
I love the exterior and interior color of the black one. Not as much on the 2nd one.
It seems to be well sorted out to me. My thinking is that a recently rebuilt engine, if done right, is better than one with 50 or 60k on it since that engine with the 50k could be due for a rebuild at any time. Is that off base?
Another question, if these 911 engines (the 3.0, 3.2, and 3.6) are built so well how come so many of them have have had rebuilds?
Thanks guys. I actually threw another in as well to look at.

I only have limited experience w/ him, but Craig @ camp914 is supposedly a real stand-up guy. The 914club guys seem to be VERY happy w/ the teeners they've bought from him. If he has receipts for a rebuild it might not be a bad price (Im guessing make sure it got the updated ringed cyls/heads). *I* would pay a small premium for the RS/PSS suspension, but not everyone wants that stuff. Talk him down a little $, and drive it back;) The black/tan color combo is much nicer than the 2nd one too.

O the black one is BAD ARSE....just sinister and nasty...that thing is sweet. I love the color combo, and the updated wheels make it look like a totally different car. But I wouldn't kick either one of them out of bed. No mileage listed on the C4 unless I missed it. Based just on the ads the black one looks like it was driven (obviously since it has 160K on the body) but it looks like it was really taken care of. That might explain the rebuild on that one, an owner looking to do a rebuild when the mileage got high as preventive maintenance maybe? Plus he has all the records for the rebuild. I'd jump on that black one like a fat kid on a cupcake, but that's me, of course I'm not in the mood for a newer 911 right now...I could go for a cupcake though.

Second on the driving it back too. What more of a way to bond with the car?

Top End was probably rebuilt since their were isues of the early 964's having cylinder head leaks and problems with the dual-mass fly wheel.
Black one looks real sweet :)
On the second car, is that a replacement rear deck lid? I thought they said "Carrera C4" and that the C4S was not available in 1989. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are right and the script style looks wrong. The '89 was the first year for the 964 and C4 only.
It looks like the 993 C4S.

While I have never dealt with Camp 914, I have thought there 914 prices were a bit above true value. Unless you are deperate for THIS 964 I would pass. You can find closer, lower mileage examples for similar money, imho.

Here is a little bit more info on the black one. In the seller's words.
The motor was rebuilt by Franz Blum racing in Georgia. It was a complete
rebuild including the rod nuts and bolts. Very extensive. Lots of new parts.
Heads were sent to Calif for port and polish and flow testing. RS induction
and chip, cost was over $10K, the suspension was to RS spec also with a
total of $11K. I am selling to fund another project. This car needs nothing.
No disappointments here.
I think the car is very nice and think you can probably get down a bit on the price to maybe 20 or 21k, just a guess. The distance is the killer though. That is a long way away. I am not desperate. I have definitely learned patience in my 2nd car search from you guys. While I haven't decided to definitely pass I think I might lay back a bit and see what pans out. The only reason I am considering this one is the color combo is my first choice other than Dark Green (if it was dark green I would be there right now) and the apparent condition of the body, paint, interior and the overhauls mentioned. That is close to a new car, for the most part.
I also think the deck on the 2nd car is from a 993.
Have y'all heard about this racing group mentioned above in GA and does that type of rebuild add any value, power or anything I don't know about?
I don't really care for the 2nd the more I look at it and it appears from the ODO that it is 147k or so. I can't tell.
What do you think the market pricing should be on that black one given what you know from this post, which is all that I know at this point?
