SOLD
It's time to get serious about making room in the garage for the cars again. I am selling my 2.7S engine and 901 transmission. Engine: Very solid 1977 S engine with CIS and a backdated exhaust. The emissions air system was been plugged and a pop off valve installed. The heat exchangers are non stainless equivalent to the SSIs allowing for continued use of the heating system. Will come with a two in one out stainless muffler. Updated to hydraulic chain tensioners. Currently wired for Permatune including new coil, but can be easily reversed. The engine has had the oil changed at least once a quarter and has very few leaks. The CIS was removed, air box cleaned, CIS tuned up, return spring replaced, oil changed, and filter replaced in the last 50 miles. Transmission: This is a 901 transmission with the early short gear ratios. A-F-M-S-X. This allows for more power lower in the rpm band and allows it to rocket in between the turns, but limits top speed to approx 130MPH. Flushed twice a year with Swepco 401. Shifts cleanly and quickly. The engine and transmission are still together and on a pallet ready to go. I would like to sell them as a well matched pair, but will sell individually if needed. Price Reduced: Engine : $2,200 (Dorki Price) Transmission: Sold Please feel free to ask any questions.

FYI - If I sell both in the next 10 days, I'll make $100 donation in your name to Dorkiphus as commission.

Would this not be an excellent 914 or 912 upgrade......

Hmm, Interested in the trans. Lemme make a call to see what it takes to make it a sideshift for the 914.
Edit: sent you an email.

Allso a good temp (or permanent) replacement for someone's 911 ('65 to '89) power train. You know, while you freshening up the stock stuff! Thought about getting this for my '84 Targa just so I can use it as DD again

Not sure about a plug and play for a carrera but 74-83 should be easy peasy.

Lower gearing of 911 trans would make a car "feel" faster than the 165 HP 2.7 too.

Mating the fuel lines would be the biggest problem (having done the reverse on my targa).

Easiest thing to do would be to have a side shift trans and swap the gear sets. I’ve done this several times for my 914 and made the ~18” long socket to get the gears on/off the mainshaft. You just need to be careful setting the shift linkage, otherwise it’s pretty easy.

Bump. Help me pay for my upcoming Intersport bill and buy my engine.
Maybe Charlie will take it in trade.
