Talking Engine Drop On Sat

Hey Dorks,

Gonna drop the engine on old smoky Sat morning. Sure could use a hand from anyone that wants to help turn a few wrenches.

As a further enticement, der Vorganger is doing a story on the car and the rebuild so come and be forever immortalized in the pages of our illustrious magazine.

My address is 13935 Sawteeth Way, Centreville, VA 20121 (intersection of 66, 28 & 29). I am going to start some time in the morning (10:30 am ish). Have a hard stop time of 3:00.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris and Tito solo'd the drop. Nice job! I went over after leisurely morning and lunch to find them done with the drop and split the trans. So we three maneuvered the motor from his jack onto the engine stand. Little high level of difficulty but all's well.

Good to meet Tito and good luck to Chris through the tear down/rebuild process.

Thanks Tito and John,

Two hours from start to finish. Not too bad. Hardest part was getting it on the stand. That Biach is heavy.

Point of no return. Will post pics as I progress.

Crest

Some progress, so far just about everything I have taken off I had taken off some other time in the past. Just never all at once. About to enter uncharted territory. It's hard to see but all the valve guides are bright brass color except #1 that is black. Indication of anything?

Hey Tito,

I have a party to go to tonight and the Kids on Thursday so it is going to be a couple days before I can get to internals. I will definitly let you know when. I still need to take off the heat exchangers and put something on the garage floor before my neat freak girlfriend has a coniption because of the mess. Also need to take it out to the driveway and clean it. Enging Brite, hose and rags?
