OK we wrapped up the engine tins and they are off to powder coat Monday. Also, I forgot to post this picture of the oil cooler thermostat's new home. Mounted it to an existing hole from the brake proportioning valve.

On Thursday we sorted the fuel system for the 3.6. Nice and tidy with new hose where it was not steel. Also replace the outer CV bolts as they were a mix of 12 and 6 point allens. Now all the same and properly torqued.
I also noticed my mileage when we powered up the electrics to verify wiring/operation and saw I was at 99301. I thought that was funny as we are putting a 993 motor in my car.

We got another day in earlier in the week. We got the distributor belt changed - but are awaiting the arrival of the distributor shaft gear pin to finish that up. All we need to do is drive that pin in and it will be done.
We also got the oil return line fitting to supply oil from the tank to the engine installed. We then cut the two intake lateral runners apart so we can rotate the entire throttle body downward so we can clear the stock engine lid. Though at first glance it looked difficult, it actually was pretty simple to cut the 3 connecting plastic ribs between the two so they rotate freely. Then we pulled out all of the wiring harnesses we have for this project. Now that is going to be fun. It is like a hundred snakes all connected. I am sure we will get it sorted one plug at a time.

Yesterday we installed the ridiculously expensive 2 strips of rubber on the timing chain box covers that accept the front engine tin so it does not rattle and fits tightly. The we got the front (fan side) engine tin on and it all fits great.
Then we started to play around with the idle control valve location. Factory 993 was on top of the motor - looks funky. So we are working on relocating it down low maybe where the cruise control mechanism lived, or at the very least to the left of the throttle body. We will likely make a pipe to move it as it does carry vacuum and we do not want to trust that a hose would not collapse. The stock hose is pretty stout with ribbing to keep its shape.

I finally received the distributor shaft gear drive pin as well as my new rotors. We will get the distributor wrapped up and installed on Tuesday. I also received the crank position sensor as well as the studs I was awaiting for the transaxle install. That should allow us to install the transaxle on Tuesday as well. Lots of fun to be had.
