You are confusing velocity with acceleration... acceleration is the change in velocity. You really need to be citing energy equations here, not force.

I agree, improved driver education is the real key.
I understand the simple physics of it but the point I was trying to make is that the simple statement "Speed Kills" is not accurate. "Driver Error" is what kills, but I agree that driver error at high speed is more likely to kill. Speed, in and of itself, does not and can not kill, unless your car can accelerate at 10 times the force of gravity, then your head might explode.

speed does not kill, speed differentials kill.

Agreed, with one exception. When roads are insufficient for traffic load, and all lanes end up being speed restricted by the sheer volume of traffic, then it's inevitable that the left lane becomes just another piece of pavement filled by cars in the classic beltway crawl.

When that happens on the beltway or 95, I usually find that the right lane moves the fastest. What's up with that?

How about this formula:

F=D*KY

Where F is Frustration, D is how big a Dumbass the other driver is (this can either be a Minivan sitting in the left lane, or a Lexus RX300 tailgating you), and KY is Kids Yelling, or the constant of how distracting it is when your kids don't know how to keep their mouths shut and behave in the car.

it doesn't matter what the speed limit is. its the principle of "cruising" in the left lane. if you decide you want to only go 5 over, then fine. but you should always be in the right most lane. basically the rule is, stay right. the only time you should be in the left lane is if you are passing someone. and when you are done with that, you should move back over.
