Great weekend for car spotting. I was up in NE PA and I saw:

Numerous Corvettes including a very nice 60's Sting Ray, lots of American iron and muscle, a Jaguar E-Type Coupe', a 997, a Carrera, a 356 Coupe and a Gallardo sypder.

Bah. I saw a nice yellow targa this morning on 66 west around rt 50. From a distance, I thought I was looking at an elise approaching. Rather it was a yellow Carerra GT!! Silver haired fellow driving. I'm not used to seeing them "in the wild"!

Driving from Reston to Tysons Corner on the Toll Road at about 2PM today, I was in a pack including myself (driving the 944 today) a Guards Red Carrera 4S (997) with the panoramic roof, a black/gray 997 Turbo, and an older 911 (very nice, sorry I don't know the type).

AFAIK, it was pure coincidence that all these Porsches (yeah, and a 944:roll:) were in a pack.

saw this 250gto on friday. since an original would make a veyron seem like a 1/2-priced bargain, and it would take enormous stones (and bank account) to risk it in friday afternoon downtown traffic, i'm thinking this may be a replica car, though the lines look authentic enough. either way, even as a replica that car is not only expensive but also stunningly beautiful.
didn't hear it run so have no idea what kind of engine it could have...

I may have seen this same car downtown many years ago. It was parked in front of my building. When I saw it I was floored, thinking who would drive such a valuable car in SW DC. But then I got a closer look, and saw something very familiar....the interior was a Datsun -Z-.

yeah, i'm aware of the kits, but the lines and proportions on this one were soooo much better, than if it isn't a real deal, then it is a very verrrrry good kit. and those, like cobras, can easily be near $100k

take a look at how the front fenders are not as pronounced, not to mention the grill/radiator opening on the nose

After comparing the pics, I notice that the red car has badging that looks F-car authentic (I don't believe kits provide, but unscrupulous types could attach anyway...). Also notice the windshield wipers are anchored differently; at the very least I don't believe the red car could be based on a Z-car kit. I think the % is growing that you may have seen a real mccoy :D.

Stuck in traffic on the Midtown Tunnel (Manhattan) yesterday trying to get to JFK during rush hour. A Bentley Continental GT was in front of my cab, weaving in and out of traffic along with the best (or worst) of them. My cab driver obviously recognized the the car -- and how expensive it would be if he hit it -- as he kept at least 5 feet back. LOL The CGT driver had some brass ones for driving in that mess.

P.S. I hate watching the in-flight DirectTV on JetBlue and tuning to the news and seeing that freak accident with the Qantas plane tearing a hole in the side of the fuselage and making an emergency landing. Freaked me out. Last time I was on a JetBlue flight the Discovery Channel had a documentary on the Lockerbie bombing. Maybe I should just listen to my iPod next time.

Just returned from a ~1,000 mile roundtrip to Massachussetts to pick up my daughter. To keep us awake, we counted 34 Ford Freestyles (not counting the one we were driving) and 20 Porsches of various colors and models (including three Cayennes and one orange '70s-looking 911 on a rollback ... sweet!). Also saw one yellow Ferrari, two Lambroghinis, and a new Jaguar convertible. Surprisingly, very few Corvettes. Porsches really stand out in traffic and are easy to spot; Freestyles, ah, not so much.

The paint appeared to be freshly sprayed as it reflected the lights. One of those times I wish I was driving my car as I passed.

My sighting:

Pumpkin GT3RS on the Beltway at about 8:45PM Wednesday night. I passed him easily. Traffic was heavy and my lane inched ahead of his.

It caught me by surprise and I just sat there until the guy behind me honked his horns. Good thing I was stopped at the light or I would've probably crashed the car!

Was stopping at Porsche of Rockville to talk to Ron Evanish, Sales Manager regarding Club Race. PCNA and the four Porsche Dealers in the DC Metro Area are a major sponsor of club race this year. They will have some of the new PDK cars out at SP next week.

Lots of room left in the DE for White, Black or Red.

You would have to work something out with your local P Car dealer. They will have touring laps during club race so they will be out on the track. But we don't control who drives.

Saw two circling our neighborhood 2 weeks ago. Landed in a big oak across the street. L grabbed the camera but by the time we found where they were perched they took off again. Suckers seemed to fill the street when they swooped down out of the tree and flew majestically up the street between the trees. They've been back several times but we haven’t seen them land. The hawk across the street stayed away while the big guns were in the air. We’ve seen several nearby on the parkway but not on our street before.

Lambo's aren't that rare either.. My wife saw 3 bald eagles out in Boyds over the weekend. Had them flying over head at our wedding too. They are a regular site out that way.

It's my sad duty to report I saw this scene in Crystal City (Arlington) around noon today. I didn't see the accident, but a white '00-02 boxster was on the losing side of the accident. If this is the car I think it is, then I've walked by where its parked in an underground garage many times.

I saw the other SUV (Maroon bottom left) drive away, but the boxster didn't fare so well.

My condolences to the owner, this car is one of the cars which inspired me to get mine. Alas I didn't have an opportunity to run down to assist. :(
