OK fellas, I've read the VIR thread and it sounds like you all had a good time.

Four of us Dorki (me, Jim R, Eli and Noah) were at SP today for Day 1 with Schattenbaum ... perfect weather, tons of track time (5 run sessions at 25 minutes apop) and we pretty much had the track to our selves.

Priceless :D

I'll post some pics after I get the kids in bed.

Can't wait to head back tomorrow for Day 2!

That was FUN today. :)

Lots of track time, great folks. Place was empty compared to a couple of weeks ago. The track felt GOOD today. I can't make it tomorrow, though. Have fun guys. I'm fully addicted. This is going to be expensive... :(

Now it wouldn't be the ghetto if at least 1 car didn't leave the ground, right ? ;)

I know this is kinda hard to see but this is about the only time I was infront of the the Vette today ... that thing went like a bat out of he!! in a straight line but it couldn't corner for sh!t

Chris - look forward to seeing you in the AM. Be sure to bring a change of shorts because White is using between 5 and 6 as a passing zone! First time I threw the signal there today was a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting experience.

Did they run a shuttle bus from the ghetto to … well anywhere (snack bar of johns)?

Sorry just POed that I could make it, though the pool was great Sunday consolation prize, third place was working on ‘44s!

I hear you David. TWO track events, and here we are locked in and NOT at the track. Two weeks to the next race, and I've got a near-terminal track jones going.

Great day guys! Sunny, warm, TONS of track time. By the start of the 5th session today I was starting to get a little tired. The final combined white/red/black group woke me up pretty quickly though.

Observations from today:

- I love driving w/ Schattenbaum
- VIR is my favorite track. SP is fun, but it felt small after spending all weekend at VIR
- Jim's car looks awesome, now it had the hp to back it up! :)
- es100's are not good track tires
- Being at the track 4 of the last 5 days was an extended zen moment
- Saw a clone of my car, but gulf blue, with 275's up front and 315's out back. Me likes.

I didn't know that 49 car was a dorki! As I recall there was an instance of an "interesting" pass when he went by me in my e30 325.

cmartin - I hadn't realized you were on this board either. I was the guy with the burgundy 325 paddocking near Sung and Dan.

That was a great event for my first DE. Lots of track time and not too crowded.

Glad you guys had a good time. I did a schatt event last year and had a blast running with them. I'm going to try to register for the next Schatt event in Oct:)

I wanted to track the Tercel with Schatt. But since I could get ~$500 for it, thought it be wiser to sell than blow it up;)

Looks like fun.

David [WLU] - how'd the E30 hold up? What's your next track mod now that your DE cherry is no longer?

Jase,
Right - virgin no more! ;) The e30 did great; I just showed up, emptied the car and drove. On the second day I went from arrival to tech'ed in about 4 minutes. By PM on day 2 I was making up ground on a few people (including an e46 M3!!) between turns 4 and 9. My instructor signed me off for the last 2 sessions of the day and I got to run by myself. I'm believing that such a slow car is a great learning tool. If you want to go fast, you absolutely MUST go through those turns properly.

My next track mod isn't really a mod. I need to replace the subframe and rear trailing arm bushings. I'm sure they're original so that means the rubber is at least 19 years old. After that I'm thinking about removing the headliner and having a 4-point roll bar welded in. Might be interesting placement in the 4-door, but I'll manage.

I have a set of the poly BMPD adjustable R TA bushes for my E30. Allows you to dial in/out camber / toe. I would also recommend the poly R Subframe bushes. I haven't installed yet but ... when I get a moment ... I'll be putting the TA bushes in to dial out some toe and camber fromt he H&R spring drop. If you need them sooner ... I'll sell you mine for cost and get some more. :D

Check out the articles on the threaded-pipe homemade tool [e30.net, techE30] for pulling the R sub-frame bushes. Cheap and pretty slick application for very little $

i'm glad you guys had fun...... that paddock/ghetto looks like a ghost town

Jase, I think I'm going to stay with the resulting rear camber for awhile and dial in a little more negative camber up front to compensate. Those adjustable RTABs are a little spendy right now. I just had to pay to replace a rear bearing and axle to pass tech. That one really hurt. :( I'll probably just go with IE poly RTABs and subframe bushings. I've got access to a press - will I need that fancy threaded rod pulling tool? I've got one more school this season, then I'm going to try to get to this job before the snow starts. Right now the e30 is a dual-purpose track/snow car. Funny how that works out isn't it?

wludavid -

Nice meeting you. I was envious when it was time to packup. I was sqeasing and bending to my gear between the seat and the cage. You just popped the trunk. :)

Nice work out there. I think Sung has some photo's of your car, I see what I can find.
