Just wondering how often you track rats change your oil WRT events. I've been running two events per change using dino (Valvoline Racing 20W-50). I've heard some guys running one change per event. How about you synthetic guys? You squeezing more events outta your expensive oil?

Here is an old rennlist thread I started, when I was just starting this track thing:

I have mine changed about every six-eight track days. I think you will get answers all over the map, at least I did.

May be worth the investment, especially if you are running syn oils. A few test results to get an idea of how your oil is holding up to your driving habits and conditions.

I squeeze... Depending on how oil temps fair during a track event I will do 3-4 events. I run Mobil 1. Lately 4 events has been a "season" for me - so now that means about 1, maybe twice per year which is about 4000 miles/yr. I used to do about double that until about 2 years ago.

3 events on one shot of M1 for me but as I now Have a Bonus Location to get for free. might do it more often. Add to this I never see oil temps over 190 or so even on the hot days.

Charlie's link to PP brings up a good point. Oil analysis. I'm a believer. Would never buy a car without doing it, and I run a sample maybe three times a season now to keep an eye on how things are going. Once you have a baseline, its cheap insurance. Always use the same lab, to be sure that subsequent tests relate directly to your baseline. Good stuff, if you like this kind of thing.

How much does an oil analysis cost?

How much does an oil analysis cost?

The lab I use is <$40, plus shipping, so $45 or so.

The lab above is $20, plus $10 for a TBN. They'll send you a free oil sampling kit.
