Here's my to do list:

-Change brake fluid
-Change oil
-Change oil return tubes (though they aren't leaking now that it's warm. I've been trying to replace these for the past year, but can never seem to get to them because the leak is so minor and only leaks when it's been sitting out in below 32 degree weather)
-Install five point harness (Thanks Bill Jay for the belts)

Question re: belt install:

I have a roll bar where the top two belts will attach to. For the waist belts, I have an eyebolt in stock seatbelt locations by the door. I plan to get a bracket that attaches at the seatbelt buckle mounting point.

The question is how do I mount the sub belt? I really do not want to drill a hole in the floor of the car. Are there good alternatives? Am I doing this right? Some suggest that I have to mount eye bolts though the floor. If it's the only solution so be it.

What's your list?

Vu,

Several of us have used the "angle iron" method of sub belt mounting. Cut a piece of angle iron so it fits across the seat rails with holes such that the seat bolts hold it in place. Secure the sub belt around the angle iron.

You can place the angle iron either at the front seat bolts or rear. In reality the sub belt takes far less than 1/10 of the total pressure the other 4 belts see in a crash and mostly just keeps the hip belts from riding up. It's mounting should be secure and strong, but angle of entry to sub-belt hole in the seat is not all that critical.

For the last event, mine was to change the oil lines from the engine and tank to the thermostat. This was caught on the tech inspection.

Apparently maintenance like th is wasn't on everyones list.

No doubt! What a mess, Oiled up the track but good and killed a lot of folks track time. The very oil lines we were talking about and the expected result too.

BTW. Don’t use short shift kits. They don't make you any faster but they do make you more likely to miss a shift. Porsches have syncros are ambiguous to start with and do not like to be speed shifted. (Some totally track built top end pro race cars excepted but every thing is different in them)

In the last Green run group a 911 coasted in early with the motor stalled out. It turned over real easy and made a fluttering sound...
Yep. The classic looking for 4th and getting 2nd valve eating MONEY $HIFT. To make matters real bad the owner just got the car back 3 weeks ago from the shop after getting it rebuilt from a money $hift. That is one very expensive short shift kit he bolted on.

Just curious why the hesitation about putting a hole in the floor for a sub bolt? How is your rollbar attached? Glue? :P

It utilizes stock mounting locations in the car. I guess the hesitation comes from my car audio background. I rarely drill a hole in a car unless it's absolutely necessary.

Just received my OGracing order which included a 2" x 3" reinforcement plates to mount eyebolts through the floor of the car. For safety sake I'm gonna break out the drill...unless someone can convince me otherwise.

Except for the seat angle iron suggestion that is prolly your best bet. I would probably like the blot in the floor as opposed to on the seat (what if the seat comes loose and that sub rolls around with it instead of keeping the lap belts where they should be?) but I guess its a way to do it. Havent thought that all the way through, but my money is on the floor.

JB (Lucky) is right on about the purpose of the sub belt. Make sure to add some sort of sealant to the hole to make sure rust demons do not start working their way into your sweet ride.

My To-Do:

- Reinstall windshield with new trim and seal

Are you doing this alone or do you have help?

Here's my prep list:

-Install new oil temperature sender and numeric guage (old one stopped working).

-Attend Niagara Region event at Glen.
