My 993 is in the shop and might not be ready for the upcoming SP DE. I hate to miss the seat time. Are there any suggestions for renting a Porsche? Local Budget Rent A Car has only one Boxster available in it's fleet and cannot guarantee it's availabilty for that weekend.

Boxster probably will not work for you without Brey-Kraus roll bar extender. 'Rent-a-ride' race cars are available through some of the ssites that support SCCA, but don't know about the availability of Porsches. Some of the race shops may have them. Very pricey.

Most rental places would go ballistic if they new what you were going to do
 If you do find car to “rent” be sure to get the full coverage insurance and check off the “0 deductible” box. I actually have some experience in this

Thanks Alan. I did a google search for rent-a-ride. They seem to be all over the country with different programs but have yet to find one locally. Does anyone have a phone number for them?
By the way, check out this BMW club link:

We should try to get something similar on the Potomac site for those in need.

Try KingRat Racing. He rents race cars and used to have a 944. Think he is into spec Miata currently, but may be still have Porshe's to rent.

Kevin,
I just sent an email to Alex at KingRat. I'll see if he gets back to me. Thanks for the tip.

I hope I didn't spill the beans for you with Jody. When she brought me her car to fix the noise in the steering we were talking about my car and that's when the subject of your car came up. I had no idea you had a 993 & were into track time and stuff like that. Anytime you're @ my store stop by my desk & let me know you're there, I may be able to throw some business your way.

Mike,
Aha! No wonder Jody said something about the work being done on my car at dinner tonight!
Someone asked about my track days and she said I blew the motor up. I was playing it down although I am doing a top end rebuild with a couple goodies.
Anyway, I have been in worse trouble, like the time last year when I forgot to mention my 951 went into a wall at turn 10 and was at the body shop for 3 weeks. She heard about it from a neighbor friend. Yikes. Don't bring that one up again next time she comes by.
I try to get down to your place once a week.
I'll stop by and see you next time I'm there.
