All:

The Mid-Ohio Track Video I ordered last week has arrived! As such, I would be happy to host a Mid-Ohio Video Viewing Party at my house. I was thinking this Tuesday, April 12 at 8:30 pm at my house in Georgetown.

I will provide the video and the Pizza. You bring the beer or wine. I have plenty of parking, so don't worry about the typical Georgetown parking nightmare.

Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in coming. I will PM you directions to my house.

Thanks,

TD in DC

Damn! I'll be in Seattle all next week so I'm out. If you move the date past next week, I'm in because I want to see the video before I hit the track.

OK, Would Tuesday the 19th work for everyone? Pari?

Let me know!

I don't have a lift, and I don't have good garage space, so this type of event is probably the best I can do for the dorki. Although I would also like to attend some engine dropping parties (and probably will), all of the kids in diapers around my house make it a little difficult to get out.

I have good news. Today I "obtained" something that should be very interesting to all who are going to Mid-Ohio for the first time. Although I am not supposed to tell here, I will show all of you who come over. I am also trying to talk one of our beloved instructors to come join us and give pointers.

I am trying to pick a date that would maximize attendance. So far, it sounds like Tuesday the 19th or Wednesday the 20th would be best. If you are interested, please send me a PM as soon as possible listing your preferences. Thanks!

Either 19th or 20th would be fine with me.

It sounds like Wednesday, April 20th, is the day it will be. I have been contacted by a number of you offline. Please confirm by posting in this thread or sending me a PM (if you have not already done so), that you are planning to attend so I can start doing what I need to do on my end.

Thanks!

Just bring whatever you personally like to drink. That way, everyone is happy and some people may learn about a new beer or wine.

As an update, Tony will be there to give us some additional pointers in person!

While not a "beloved" instructor I do sit in the right seat and I might be able to stop in if I can get a kitchen pass. My vicairous enjoyment as I can't make Mid Ohio this year. I love that track. It does not favor power over handling and is a smooth skill rewarding track. SCCA has the runoffs there for a reason. Some say it is the best race track overall.

Kurt,

Please do come by. Don't worry about a kitchen pass, please bring your wife and kids. Your wife can meet my wife and talk about whatever they want upstairs while your kids sleep (or not) upstairs (we will have some help for the kids). You can both have a mini night out and not worry about cooking.

It would be great to have you and your family over

TD

P.S. If anyone else wants to bring their significant others and/or kids, you are welcome to do so. We will be in the basement, and the kids and anyone who doesn't care about Mid-Ohio can remain upstairs.

If you still have room for one more, count me in! Of course, I'm gonna need a passing signal from the wife...

OK All:

We are on for Wednesday, April 20 at 8:30 pm. Please send me a PM with your pizza preference (plain, pepperoni or supreme) and how many guests you will be bringing (spouses and children welcome -- kids can sleep or play upstairs), and I will send you directions to my house. The sooner you RSVP, the better, but don't worry if you want to join in late. So long as you RSVP before 4:00 pm on Wednesday, all should be good (I just want to make sure we have enough Pizza).

Thanks,

TD

I can take the Jeep and fit 3 others easially, or would be happy to ride along.

Let me know if interested.

Mike, thanks, but just bring what you want to drink! Don't worry about bringing gift alcohol because I am usually on the accepting, rather than giving, end of Dorki generousity, so I view this as just a little way to pass it forward rather than a way to stock my alcohol cabinet!

Werd. Thanks to Todd for letting us invade his house, and thanks to Tony and Kurt (niether of whom are even going to Mid Ohio this year) for coming out and giving tons of track advice to a bunch of n00bs (and John, who is not a n00b but new to MO). Thanks a lot guys!

Thanks Todd for hosting, and thanks to Kurt and Tony for giving us MO noobs a step up. This should help us climb our 'friday learning curve' that much easier.

No problem, and I was happy to have everyone over.

Special thanks to Tony and Kurt for their instruction and enthusiasm about Mid-Ohio.

I can hardly wait, but I certain quotes keep coming to mind, like the one Dave mentioned and "If you do this right, you will come over the hill looking straight into the wall!

However, little did you all know, I saved the "real" tape with the "real" lines for later so that I will have a little advantage over you better drivers!

I plan on doing it again, definitely for Watkins Glen and maybe even for the tracks we already know. Good excuse for pizza.

Todd,

Brilliant idea, great execution! Thanks for hosting last night.

I'm really psyched about MO now -- even if the good line is still a secret.

We need a caravan thread... I'll start one.

Todd thanks for having the gang over and great find on the DVD by the way.
The instruction on the DVD is not only good for Mid-Ohio, it shows many general concepts and exhibits them well. Early, Late, setup for connected turns, setup for camber changes angle of attack and the like. All well shown on the video and explained well.

I would love a copy of this one for the Taj 60'. Who can copy DVDs? Not that I would copy any protected materal...

Kurt,

That was actually a video tape. I have also ordered the same content on DVD. When the DVD arrives, I can either copy it for you or simply give you the video tape. I cannot tell you how much we lowly green and blue group guys appreciated you and Tony coming over to help. What seems obvious to you is all new to us, or at least to me. Thanks again.

Kurt, thanks for taking the time to show us how to get around Mid Ohio the right way. Your explanations were good for us and the commentary was amusing as well.http://img57.echo.cx/img57/8900/thumb5ru.gif
