VIR Member anyone?

Oh how I love VIR. In an ever pressing need to drive there as much as possible I was reading about joining the 'club'. Anyone done this?

For non VA or NC residents it's $500 down and $100/mo. Weekend track days are $150/day, weekdays are $125 (if I read that correctly). On the surface it sounds like it's cheaper to just sign up for DE's, they are usually $300-320/weekend. There are other beni's but I'm not sure I would ever use the baseball tickets or the go carts.

Anyone privy to the secret handshake?

I have a friend that runs a Mazda powered GTP Spice car in HSR and he had Sascosports (http://www.sascosports.com/) [based at VIR] and others doing a lot of work on it. He joined the "club" back when it was first offered b/c he needed a place to run the car.

HSR / SVRA only allow GTP type cars at select events [like Sebring night enduros :shock: - still recovering ...] so he could only run it a few times a year. It made sense for him b/c he lives here in NOVA and works in DC. and VIR really is one of the closest tracks that was 1. close 2. newly paved 3. updated facilities 4, offering the club type membership.

I don't think it would be economical or practical unless you needed to keep your car somewhere AND you didn't have many other venues to run.

Understand your infatuation with VIR, it is a great track. I have run it a dozen or so times.However, what's that old adage, why buy the cow, when you can buy a gallon of milk. There are other great tracks out there, my favourite at the moment is Mt tremblant in Canada, also really like Mosport in Canada and the Glen is not too far behind. Part of the fun for me anyway in doing DEs is traveling to new tracks and learning them as well as I can. As Kurt said in another post striving for perfection just will not happen. Even Schumi screws up,(Not as often as me, but I don't get paid his big bucks!!) Become an Instructor and some clubs let you in for next to nothing.

Actually what my kitchen utensil flying, chopper dropping, Scottish brother meant to say (you must understand that English is his second language :P ) was that we're all "striving" for perfection but none will achieve it.

Thanks guys, sort of what I expected to hear.

BTW Taking 360 home saved a bunch of time compared to 85/95. Thanks for the heads up!
