I think we're all going to be "blue" this weekend. The latest from the NWS:

Friday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42.

Saturday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high around 43. Chance of precipitation is 30%

Bob,

If I fly back to DC and steal a car, can I drive in Blue? Oh, wait. I'm going to be Chief Instructor for the California Festival of Speed (at Fontana) that weekend, enjoying the sunshine and warm weather.

Yes, the rains have abated, we're drying out, and will not see rain until November!

(I know, I know. . .I'm a jerk! :) )

By the time green hits the track, all the hard core track junkies with their low hanging spoilers will have blowed the line for us.

Wishful thinking, but many of the upper run group drivers don't go out when it's too wet. Combination of too much $$ invested, too much hassle to change tires and too uncomfortable driving on 35 degree rain with the windows down. The number of Red and Black Group cars drops pretty dramatically. You'll also see the numbers decline in the lower run groups, but not by quite as much.

You will never appreciate the importance of smooth driving until you drive SP in the rain -- especially in a 911. Get on the gas too abruptly in Turns 3, 9 and 10, and you can look out your side window and wave to your rear bumper.

Besides which Dave, we are a bunch of wusses. I enjoy driving in the rain occasionally now and certainly encourage Green and Blue drivers to. Crank that heater up, windows open. You will learn the track, the line and how important smooth is. Now all I need to do is figure out a remote so I can sit in the warm with a cup of coffee, watch my student live on TV and impart words of wisdom like, steady, gently, oops, both feet in,no,no not that one the brake and clutch , oh well they will come and get you soon.

That opening (the subject of this thread, you may recall...) is gone!
