...but content free at present. This car badly needs a number. We Porsche lovers really need to talk about the run in our Porsche 977, not taking the 'gator out for a slide.

Agreed. As I said before, it looks very nice but that (IMO) stupid name bugs me.

The whole ad bugs me. Porsche is leaning way too close to hype and away from substance

Agree, it needs a number, how about 969? But come on guys, that’s a great commercial! Remember 10 years or so ago when the Infinity or something was just being introduced? They ran a series for weeks without even mentioning a car! Good PR makes for healthy sales, which makes for a healthy company. At least this one looks like a likely track candidate and not another SUV

Lets see... Mid-engine Porsche, coupe, two seater, light, why not continue on from the 914 numbering line?
Probably too much PR baggage...

In honor of Mr. Riley, they should call it the '957'

Doesn't it have a number - 987 - just like the 986 (Boxster), the 996 (Carrera), and the 955 (Ki-ann)? Just because some people choose to ignore this and call these cars by silly nicknames, doesn't mean we all have to.

Just tick off the option box "badge delete"... if not then a heatgun and some floss to get that sign off the back

Word. When I get a Cayman (wayyyy into the future), the badge will be the first thing to come off. I see an aftermarket for Porsche script "987" badges.

screw the badge, only "Motor Trend" subscribers would call it a reptile. Most will see it and think *911* anyway. Rightfully so too.
(if offended, insert another US automotive publication in there. Any of the ones that *test* minivans and esuvees are applicable)
