So today was the day. For a week or so I have been figuring out how to checkout and potentially bring home a car I 'won' on ebay. I took the train to Penn Station, then the LIRR to Long Island today to blow my 401k and cross over to the darkside.

I met the owner at the train station, first time I saw the car. OK, it does exist, good start. He takes me to a local shop, RPM, to drop it off for a compression test and general go over. Great shop, nice, helpful guys and lots of eye candy to see. I immediately check out a silver 356, 59 cab. Now I dont know 356's, but this one was special, only made 1 year, after the speedster was discontinnued. Best part is, my ride owned the 356! We took it for a spin while the red car was being looked at.

OK, I need one of these.

On to my car. I'll post a few teaser pic's, more to come when it's cleaned up. 911 Sport seats, these are comfy, and look the part.

Oh, it's a widebody.

http://www.muvvachicken.com/images/porsche/red_car/red_2.jpg

Steel flares added to a 78 Euro SC. Bodywork appears to be done nicely.

I drove the car home ~250 miles hitting traffic on Long Island and rain on the turnpike, guess I got that out of the way. The car has a 3.6, w/ RS cams, receipts show 993 part #'s. The trans has limited slip and a 7:31 ring and pinion. Hold the phone, I had no idea what that was all about. Talk about sensory overload. Considering it was raining I was taking it easy, only getting on it a little. At ~4k rpm the thing screams and anything in it's way will soon be known as roadkill. Unreal. Brakes are S4 calipers up front on 930 rotors and 965 (I think) calipers out back. Receipts will clear up the fuzz once I get settled. The car NEEDS a muffler. There is no bottom in the muffler at all. I've been home for ~45 minutes already and my head is still ringing.

Couple things I learned on the way home:

-driving a car w/ a 7:31 ~75 is 4k rpm. With a bad muffler I felt like a door gunner... Get Some!

-A cage takes up lots of space! I'll need to think about keeping it in or not, it's a Safety Devices bolt-in. The window cranks are tough to get to w/ the rollbar padding.

This should be an interesting 2005![/list]

SOLID!!

Chris, that looks like one bad-a$$ mudda. I'm already prepping my left index finger. Treat it nice and I'm sure it will do the same.

Congrats!

Holy crap! Can't wait to see it - it sounds like a beast.

BTW, if this is a track car (and what else could it be?), those crappy factory sport seats need to be replaced with a set of Sparcos. Tell you what, I'll even be nice enough to come over and haul them away, you know, saving you a trip to the dump. Free of charge! No need to thank me.

Wow, I drove the car a little more today, it's a monster. Most importantly, I need a muffler, bad.

Once I get a muffler on the red car I'll figure out the fate of the SC. Problem is I dont know if I can part with the SC, it's my first ya know. :)

On the other hand, 1995 M3, for sale!

GFOH  , You have got to be kidding me!!
That is one helluva 911SC you got there brother! Congrat's on getting an awesome 911 :D !!

That's right, SCWDP covert ops will catch you off guard.
Jim, I don't think a 2.7RS is faster than a 3.6L  . With RL and Chris joining the darkside, SCWDP is unstoppable. MUHAHAHAHA
Problem is I dont know if I can part with the SC, it's my first ya know.
I have the same outlook, keep it man. It's all about the platinum, that color is hot.

Details Charlie?

No real details, Jamie. I had a lead on a Euro SC that I was going to swap all the Targa components (suspension & drivetrain) into and turn the coupe into a LW street/DE machine. That deal pretty much fell through due to presence of metal termites.

Still keeping my eyes open though.

Hijack over......

Heating up? You're building a 2.7RS spec, Chris has his 3.6 SC monster, and lets not even talk about Greg's car. I'd say the arms race is fully en fuego at this point.

I wanna play :D 3.2, chip, SSIs, sport muffler, limited slip, close ratio gear set, short shift, Carrera brakes. Lightweight SC tub, FG front & rear bumpers, 19mm through body adjustable front sway bar, 21mm rear. Same old 7 x 9 Fuchs (maybe Linda's 8s on the front, duck on the back). Might even get the bodywork done  Lots of track time :!: How about the rest, anybody else joining the “race” :?:

LOL, things are heating up. I took some recyclables out to the garage today and couldnt resist starting the car up.

I figure I have ~30hp to gain once I get real exhaust on the car, that should be a hoot. :)

Quit screwing around . . . get headers and megaphones . . . there's your 30hp

I guess I better start looking for one of those V-8 conversion kits for the Crate . . . thats the only way I could keep up with this power surge.

Now Luke, the force is strong with you. Call down the strength. 3.6, 3.6, 3.6, 3.6, 3.6 is your mantra. Make that long hood a stud.

I think I can do a 3.2 conversion for about 1/2 the cost of a 3.6 conversion. At least I hope I can...

Funny you posted that Kaefer, because that was my first thought when I saw your other post. Welcome to the arms race. A 3.2 should do nicely with a lightened early car.
