I'm considering adding larger wheels and tires to my 1970 911T narrow body. I've seen many different threads lately and would like to see some close up pictures of 15x6 and 15x7 Fuchs please. Jim, I believe you have this setup on your car??

Also, what size tires would be recommended for this setup? I'm guessing 205/60 on the front and 215/60 rear.
I currently have 15x 5.5 I believe with 185/70's. Would the fender to tire gaps increase with the lower profile tires or remain the same due to larger tire width?

Final question, are original Fuchs supposed to have the black paint cover half of the wheel lip? See pic of my wheel.

Dan,

I have 7x15 Fuchs (all four corners) on my 1977 911 (Euro spec). I am using 205/60x15 tires all around. No problem on the front, but the rears have very little fender clearance. I have rolled the front fenders, but not the rear.

Your picture of the early style Fuchs look like a lot of other early Fuchs wheels I have seen; the black paint looks correct.

Dan, our 73E has 6x15 wheels in front with Yoko A-008P 195/65ZR15's. In the back, we have 7x15 wheels with Yoko A-008P 215/60ZR15 tires. The rear tires fit with more negative camber than you see with a street alignment. Actually, I'll have alignment specs in a couple of days after Dulles does it for me. HPDC and DE this weekend (if I don't run into any tech glitches) so I can provide "green/green-quality" feedback on how our E handles on the track. I can't provide pics until the weekend - Lu is on a business trip and she took the digi camera. Finally, our front Fuchs have black paint part way on the rim, too. I hope this helps.

I currently have deep 6's, and have the lip paint closer to the back of the lip, makes the wheel seem wider than it is. My old wheels were about half way between the base and the lip.

It turns out that I actually have 15x6's already. I pulled one this afternoon and it said 6Jx15 and part # 911361020 00.

Chris, what do you mean you have deep dish 6's? Are those different from what I have?

I'm going to consider selling one pair to upgrade to 7's on the rear. Any idea what the going rate is for 15x7's?

Thanks,
Dan

Deep face 6x15's were only made for a couple of years. The web background sits deeper back on the lip and gives a slightly different look. Some folks REALLY want em and pay high $$'s. I lucked into mine after doing a local buy it now through Ebay. When i picked em up they were deep 6's. I sent em off to Al Reed in Anaheim and he returned Porsche jewelry to me...

I believe that the deep sixes are for 70-71 911's , maybe earlier.

The rear wheels are a deep dish 15x6, the fronts are 15x5.5's:
