You will have to register it in Arkansas to get it through emissions.

It's when the inspector asks you to open the trunk to see your engine, and then he asks if the air pump is still there somewhere in that jungle of hoses, when it's not.

Not when (1) you live in Virginia and (2) it's older than 25 years! My carbed, green T is as non-green a street car can get.

rickc,

Which shop did you go to? Remind me NOT to go there.

BTW: Did you point to your fan and say 'it's right there'?

SSI's on an 82 = no smog exemption = Slap on hand if caught

Hey, I think Bill W. said something to me about how VA will exempt you from emissions if you get an estimate or produce a receipt for a certain dollar amount that it will/did cost to come into compliance. I think the figure was $800 or something. I figure I can just pay someone to install SSI's for me and use the bill to get out of emissions inspection - a double dip.

Hmmm.....

If the station asks, I can show them the M.M. receipts for the SSI's and the Dansk.

'Thought this would clear up my emission issues, guess not.'

You have to produce receipts that total at least $400, that are performed by an authorized emissions repair facility to get the pass. If the equipment is not on the car, no pass. You also have to be careful with some shops during the yearly safety inspection. They are also looking for the emissions goodies. I was rejected once for not having the EGR valve on the car during the regular VA safety inspection. Truth be told...most of these guys don't know what they are looking at anyways. When I ran the 930 through without the air pump, I leaned it up and it registered so clean they passed it . He asked if the air pump was there and I said yes..underneath that manifold. If you hold the light just so, you can see it down there in the engine. The line was long , the B&B's were doing their best to deafen us, so he let me go. That was the 25 year milestone.

Rick C is correct, and Rick Lee has too much time on his hands.
