I found a car a like. Unless there is another source to check ownership and accidents. Does anyone have a Carfax (or similar product) account and can check a car for me?

Thanks

pony up the small fee and get an account. You might want it when you learn that the one in question doesnt pan out.

However, to kep thread On Topic, I do not have an account.sorry.

IIRC, Carfax went to the pay per view model and away from the subscription model.

You are correct sir. You get the ability to look up 5 VINs within a month. They also charge $45 for that month. A rip off compared to what it used to be.

Thanks guys I found a buddy who had one $45 for 5 cars a month. That is horrible.

But it does go to show what marketing will do. I'm just as much of a leming as the rest of the masses. I wanted to see it before I bought a car.

I dunno -- if it saves yo ufrom buying a car that was wrecked before and no one else had given you that info, wouldn't you feel like $45 was worth it? A PPI is typically $350+...

And to add a little more, I wouldn't trust a PPI that I wasn't present at (read local) and some one or shop I was comfortable with. I've paid for at least two long distance PPI's that were inaccurate as hell, and from what
I know about cars, leakdowns, quality upgrades, I no longer need or trust unknown shops assessments.
