Hi Guys,

I need to know if the ignition coil igniter (driver) is on board or external.

I've asked a place that makes piggy back MAP computers if they can make one up for my 3.2 and they have asked this question. They seem to think the computer ML3.1 is very similar to a BMW 535 unit of similar vintage, I have no idea? I just want the AFM out of the way...

Thanks a lot, very cool how this site has a dedicated Motronic Section!

I think this question is answered in the 'inside the dme' thread, looks like number 9 is the part I'm looking for?:

9. T504 - The Ignition driver transistor. Labeled 1012 in the schematic and on the part itself, it is thought to be similar to a ST BU941 (Bill in OKC on Pelican made this connection and it seems to be the case looking at the data sheet for the BU941).

Yep. that's the coil driver transistor.

Albeit a poorly updated one . The BMW of a similar vintage should be very similar, as I think BMW was the original that Bosch developed most of this stuff for.
